    Egg PPI

i had/have a loan with Egg for over 6 years (was renewed) - My original loan was a lump sum insurance which i was told i had to have for illness & unemployment. this was over £2800 on top of loan. I was made redundant in June & claimed insurance - they denied that i had unemployment insurance but only illness (although it does say on my agreement) - this forced me to go into default on the account & was passed on to a DCA. Which i arranged to pay £2/month (success). But i want to claim for the mis-sold insurance etc - what do i do? & do i have a case?

  3. I have tried to reclaim charges from Cahoot for excessive fines etc - I have had to use my overdraft after being out of work & because of continued charges it is almost impossible to get out of it. So i decided to send them a nice email...this is the response. Dear Mr. Bolton, Thank you for contacting cahoot in Coventry. We do not accept that cahoot charges are unfair under the Unfair Terms in Consumer Contracts Regulations 1999. The object of these Regulations was not price control nor were they intended to interfere with people's freedom to agree the terms of their contracts. It is well known that banks make charges and cahoot charges are in line with those of other banks. The terms and conditions of the account and the charges that apply are clear and fair and were provided to you at the time you opened it. You freely agreed to the terms and conditions and the charges when you opened the account. You were not under any obligation to do so and could have gone to another bank if you did not agree to the charges. Equally, you are free to move your account to another bank at any time if you do not agree with the charges. In any event, we do not agree that the charges are disproportionate. The charges are reasonable and proportionate to the administrative costs incurred by cahoot. I can also advise you that there has not been any ruling to state that any fees that bank apply to a customers account are unlawful. I am therefore unable to refund the charges you've incurred fully appreciating the disappointment this may cause. Please be assured I have carried out a full investigation for you. I hope you feel I have offered a fair response to all of the issues you raised. If you remain unhappy, you may refer your concerns to the Abbey Central Complaints Team within 8 weeks, the address to contact is What do people make of this? I am still getting charged £35 for being overdrawn! Thoughts please???
  4. Many thanks for that. As i have written this; they have just sent me a text message saying 'call me' I can't believe how they just ignore any letters that you send.
  5. I was in financial difficulties after being made redundant - i informed MBNA that i would not be able to make full payments on my credit card...of which was totally ignored & i received upto 6 phone calls per day. I decided to write a letter to them with offer of payment & financial statement. This letter was sent recorded. After 5 recorded letters & sent proof of signature, they still ignore correspondance & send default letters!!! what do i do??
  6. Well! i looks as though i have found the correct place! I am in the same situation! After being made redundant & having difficulty paying my credit card, i sent MBNA a financial statement & offer of payment which they have persistantly refused to acknowledge..instead just send default threats! I have sent the letter 5 times (each time recordered & with proof of signature)...yet they still ignore anything i have sent! What do i do??
  7. Hi To cut a long story short--i was made redundant in June & found it difficult to make full payment on my credit card..i informed MBNA of this, which they still insisted of full payment (i received upto 6 calls per day) I sent them a letter (recorded) with my financial statement & offer of payment..each time i recieved a letter threatening court action. I have re-sent this letter 5 times (all recorded) & even included proof of signature..yet i still receive default threats & they are failing to acknowledge my letters..what do i do?? help please??
  8. Hi, Hope this is the correct thread!? I was in financial difficulties since being made redundant in June - I informed MBNA that i would struggle paying my credit card..i received at 6 phone calls per day asking for a payment, of which i insisted that i could not afford to make full payment. I ignored these phone calls so sent recorded delivery letters with financial statement & offer of payment until i get myself sorted.. after 5 letters..all recorded (yes letters) that i sent; they ignore every letter that i have sent them (i even sent proof of signature on 5th letter)...i still receive letters threatening court action even though i have tried to ask for help. Any thoughts????
  9. I am new to this forum & looked with interest on how many people have been successful in claims against banks & credit cards - I look forward to assistance & advise from you all in my money related matters.
