  1. You will get a few more letters in this case, also abusive phone calls etc. but if your blood pressure can take it then enjoy the ride and do nothing as advised above, the harrassment will eventually peter out and stop. If you are a more sensitive soul and need to do something to keep your sanity then there is also excellent advice here on various letters to write, people to contact, but it is actually all a waste of time and effort, in the final analysis they have no legal leg to stand on and rely on intimidation and harassment to make you pay their extortionate demands. The main point here is to remember that UKPC do not operate as a fair or professional business controlling parking space on behalf of their clients. If they did they would have an appeals system which actually responds to their errors, their documentation and procedures would be accurate and effective and this website would be superfluous. The authorities are unable to do anything as the law covering this really needs a test case in the High Court to set a precedent and it needs a brave man with deep pockets to start such an action. My MP has suggested that the motoring organisations should do this, but both the RAC and AA are not interested, maybe if enough people contacted them? The best people to contact are UKPC's clients, make it clear to the supermarket, hospital, hotel, wherever it was UKPC claimed you had "contravened their parking regulations" that the service they are contracting UKPC to undertake on their behalf is not being carried out in a proper manner. These organisations cannot accept cowboys operating on their behalf and will put a stop to it, much as happened to irresponsible clampers some time ago. If UKPC had any sense they would get their act in order, use responsible wardens, install a proper appeals system and show that they are a professional company; clearly there is a need to control parking spaces on private property such as supermarkets, hospitals etc. and the authorities would be far more supportive of them than they are at present.
  2. Lamma Thanks for the tips, I have done the "cease and desist" letter to the registered office (recorded post with copies of all letters) so am now reporting them but the police still won't accept this is criminal until trading standards make a complaint. No one is interested so I feel I am very much on my own. There are several ommisions on the paperwork which I shall follow up but suspect I shall still get the same foboff from the police, I shall also follow the BPA and DVLA route but don't see how this is going to help me. Is there any direct action I can start against UKPC to actually make them desist? Electron99 Thanks for the idea but the photo is definately my daughter's car. Unfortunately she has pimped it! Makes it rather distinctive. Point is the location is wrong, we don't know where they took the photo but it could not have been where they claimed. I gave them the chance to check and correct this but they rejected my appeal. They are wrong and I believe they know it, this is fraud, but how to fight it?
  3. I have recently become the victim of the UKPC [problem] and found this forum whilst searching for ways to put an end to their disgusting attempts at extortion. I received the "PCN" with photo showing my daughter's car parked at some unspecified location which they claimed was in Wantage. This is simply wrong. We can prove that the car was not in Wantage at the time claimed, and even a cursory glance at the photographic "evidence" shows that the location is wrong as the site they claim is all hard standing whereas the photo clearly shows a gravelled surface, I took the trouble to travel some 20 miles to go there and check. Assuming UKPC to be a reputable company we have appealed and pointed out their errors, by phone and in writing, which they have rejected. Meanwhile we received a further demand for the same car at the same time but this time in London, about 80 miles away! After several attempts to resolve this it has slowly dawned on me that this is a [problem] and that they have no intention of fair play and intend to hound me into paying their unjustified charges. The current level of intimidation is to threaten me with debt collectors which I expect will escalate further as I have ceased replying to their letters since writing to the directors demanding that they take me to court to resolve this. I have also told them I shall report them for harrassment. My MP has suggested I should report this to the police as a criminal offence but the police will not accept my complaint unless it has first been actioned by trading standards as they regard this as a civil matter, I am now trying to contact my local trading standards office, not easy! My MP also suggested that this needs a test case to be taken to the High Court to put a stop to such unscrupulous companies and that this should be a matter for the AA or RAC as it is impractical for an individual victim such as me, although I am tempted. I am quite happy to sit tight and see this through although my family is less happy and are distressed by the threats made by UKPC, they are especially concerned that they can in some way damage our credit rating although I would be delighted to sue for damages should they try. I would be happier still to see an end of this and would appreciate any advice from other similar victims.
