  1. Yeah i have said its an emergency for 3 weeks, everytime i rang them...i have checked they have recieved the form so hopefully on our way
  2. Its ok they have family visiting at the moment & the brother spoke english ...but they have now signed the form. Anything else can be dealt with by the water boar
  3. Contacted water again to tell them i wasnt happy doing the pushing. She went away for 20 mins & come back to tell me their form was recieved 2 days ago! And they will be in touch to say when tbey will be scheduling the work! Im going to complain about the way this was handled by them. 2 water vans have just pulled up outside. Apparantly there may be a leak 2 houses down now. Their communication is soo bad, the leak moves with each phone call or visit! This is now the 3rd house they have blamed. I willet you know if anything changes. Thankyou so much for your help
  4. I have just caught someone coming out of the house next door, a relative, i run up to the car & told him the situation, i said they must sign the form to get water on, he said they have no water either & will pass message on to his brother, i think they are turkish, or very similar. He spoke some english anyway. He said water board should tell them not me....this is why i really think that south staffs water should be pushing this
  5. Initially tbey said they could force repair...but i rang this morning & they said they could but they wont as its just the form they waiting for from nxt door. I asked what happens if they dont sign it & she said they must sign the form before we can schedule the work, maybe i should knock & ask or push note through telling them to sign I have but they wont answer as i explained ...i think its really wrong the water board puts it back onto me. As they have more legal power & persuasion than me, i dont want to look like im harrassing them, but obviously i need a water supply.
  6. Thankyou for helping. In addition to my post for anyone experiencing similar, we are a row of 4 terraced houses, there is no entryways to the back gardens. We have 2 main stopcocks on our proprty in the back garden, one serves just this house & the other serves 2 houses to the right. Investigative work was done with a machine that bounces a signal off the undergrond pipes, but as next door has a part plastic, the signal cant go through. No evidence of water pooling anywhere, so must be underground. The last house on the row has no water upstairs whatsoever, we, 2 doors up have very limited water, the shower wont work due to no pressure (its stone cold & its a brand new shower)..the bath takes an hour for an inch of water, the toilet cistern drips in after flushing & washing machine wont work, again due to not enough water coming in. The boilor is constantly losing pressure. Hope this info helps
  7. Hi Can someone help me please? We have a problem with very low water pressure for nearly 3 weeks now. We cant shower, bath wont fill, toilet takes ages to refil after flush and my washing machine wont fill. We have 3 adults in the house, myself, my partner & daughter We are block of 4 houses. South staffs water were notified of the prob came out & traced it to the back garden mains of one of the properties, but cant pinpoint which one. cutting a long long story short, they said they would dig & investigate. They got us to sign a permission form last week, which all houses did, except next door no 40. I only found out today that this is why nothings been started yet, as they need the form signed. Problem is they wont ans the door, ignore notes left. They dont speak much english. I suffer health problems and havent been able to get my hair washed for nearly 3 weeks. I can wash with a kettle of water but i feel so dirty all the time its effecting my mental health now. Ive tried citizens advice but i cant get through. 3 of the houses are brought & ours is private rented. She said they can force repair tgen charge whoever or all for it, but they are now saying they cant even do that if they dont receive that form from next door. We cannot live like this for much longer & i dont know what to do Thankyou for any help you can offer
  8. Hi hope someone can help me. My friend was recently homeless and he found a HMO studio flat which was no deposit but required 4 weeks rent in advance (£396). He got a crisis loan for this. In the meantime he applied for housing benefit which the local council sorted out prompty after 2 weeks. As he was unemployed he was entitled to £183 per fortnight (£366 month). This has to be paid direct to the landlord. So am i correct in thinking the first 4 weeks rent has been paid for twice? He is paying off the crisis loan at £5 per week out of his benefit. But surely the landlord should have returned the initial 4 weeks so it could be paid off the crisis loan? My friend has been in the studio 2 months now and asked the landlord about it, the reply was there was only £80 credit and not anywhere near the £366! So its worrying where its gone!! Also when he moved in there was black mould on the bedroom wall, they said they would fix it and replaster. Now they are saying they wont - all they will do is move the radiator off the opposite wall and put it on the wall that is damp! My friend has been to CAB with some issues on his contract, like being responsible for maintaining the gas and electric ect....CAB said the contract was laughable and gave him the number of the local council housing officer. But my friend is reluctant to contact the housing officer because the previous tennants got evicted for complaining to the environmental health about the damp. Would anyone on here be able to help put his mind at rest and clarify please thank you
  9. Im sorry Im at an age now where the old comprehend cell is on the wain lol. Okay so starting on week 1 (w/b 20th) could i take tuesday as my normal day off and be home on xmas day, without breaking any rules? Then 2nd week (beg 27th) there is a bank hol and ne w year day..........am i entiled to my normal day off that week - say tuesday again? then on 3rd week (beg 3rd) there is one bank hol.....do i get my normal day off that week? Sorry i might be able to get my head around it this way lol
  10. ahah i think i follow you now.........so w/b 20th i have to work 4 days because theres a stat hol (xmas day in there) - then w/b 27th i still have to work 4 days even tho theres bh's in there. So 1st week i have day off and xmas day - total working days in week = 4 2nd week i dont have day off because i have bh mon and new year day so i work tues, wed, thurs, fri = 4 3rd week i have bh mon off but dont have day off = 5 working days Am i anywhere near?
  11. so i wouldnt get my day off week before xmas! When it was easter or any other bh i had my day off, and only worked a short week ( ie bh mon off, tues day off, then 4 days in) and got paid, this is what i cant understand, if it like that for easter ect, why is christmas different?
  12. sos shoud be - 3 because of bh mon, my day off and new year day
  13. On the run up to xmas...i was going to have my day off within the week as normal, then we closed xmas day, boxing day. The following week there is a bh monday which we closed and then open on tues (this would have been my next day off) - then we closed new year day and have a bh on 3 jan. My contract just says " you are entitled to 25 days holiday per annum plus staturary public holidays" - thats it! Its retail industry
  14. but surely if my contact says 25 days hol plus stats (doesnt specify any number of stats), christmas day is one of those "stats", a public holiday. Wouldnt this be having my day off on a public holiday?
  15. I work full time 5 days inc sat....i get a day off in the week, i have a contract that says i am entitled to 25 days holiday per year plus statuary public holidays. I have been told that i cannot have my day off week commencing 20th dec as i have to have christmas day off. This, i am told is because bank holiday is mon, tues and we are closed! It dont seem to make sense to me. Surely this is breeching my contract
  16. can a landlord "round" up the final months rent? gave notice on 4th but they saying that they always "round" it up to a week! So they getting an extra 3 days from me plus the month! Seems a good way to add extra to your bank account.
  17. I feel for you. I had a similar experience a few years ago. My neighbour worked for the council! Everyday i had a barrage of complaints on my doorstep, my child was noisy (she was 10 an only child and out at school) or my dog was barking all day, but the other side neighbours never heard anything! I was threatned with an asbo. Yet in every property i have ever lived and have lived in since, i have never had any complaints I think they have an illness and if you are unfortunate to land next to them it makes your life hell!. Personally i wish i had turned the tables on them and pushed for harrassment.
  18. I didnt have any new terms or contract when i changed from 4 weekly to monthly. I see that i should have given a months notice, but i cannot see where the extra week has come from? If i gave notice on the 4th then at the most (rent was due 1st of every month), that would be 4 days not a week! My deposit was put into a scheme (tennant deposit scheme) when i first rented the house.
  19. Hi can someone tell me if this is correct please, as i cannot think straight anymore. I private rented a house in 2009, i put deposit of £500 plus 1 month rent in advance of £550. My year ended in oct 2010. When i rented the house i was out of work, then 4 mths after i moved in i got a job. When i moved across from JSA and full HB to mthly paid from my job, i struggled as i got no help from jobcenter due to only being unemployed for 25 weeks (26 is when extra payments kick in). I explained my situation to my landlord and he said not to worry they would use some of my deposit to make up the shortfall that was missing from my final HB payment. This was around £280 ish. They then added a futher £70 in admin fee to change over from 4 weekly rent to monthly. I was paying this off bit at a time. Due to my house being miles away from my new job, in july i started to activly look for somewhere closer to live as commuting costs were taking up a third of my wage. Then just 3 weeks after my assured shorthold tennany ended i found somewhere, and had to act fast before i lost it. I paid everything i had on the deposit and (stupidly) paid my months rent i had for my current place down as my 1st mths rent on my new place...my new tennancy started 4th nov. I told my landlord on the day i signed for the new house (to make sure everything was ok and it wasnt a [problem]) he wasnt happy and said i should pay my months rent and should give notice of a month as per contract. The date i gave notice was the 4th nov. When i moved out of the property i left it in a clean and tidy manner and took pictures just in case. Then i recived a letter off the landlord saying that I only have 186 left of my deposit and i still owe last mths rent of 550. They are taking deductions as follows 1 weeks rent of £126 up to 6th nov 1 final months rent of £550 - 6th nov to 6th dec. remainder left for switch from 4 weely to mthly rent £32 Deposit left 186 minus above figures 708 leave a balance for me to pay of £522 If they manage to rent the property out they will adjust accordingly. I have been given a little time to pay the balance and they want to know "how" im going to pay, if i dont pay it they will take me to court and sue me! I havent heard anything since (up to today), but i know that a let has been agreed just a few days after i moved out of the property. What i cant understand are the figures......where does the 126 week rent figure in all of this? I gave my notice on 4th not the 6th! I understand i should have done it bit differently but i was scared id lose my new property if i didnt act fast. Hope someone can help figure it our
  20. Hi I have a council tax bill for current 2010/11 for 1027. At the start of the year i was unemployed then in feb started pt work then to ft work in may. So i had a small amount of benefit at beg of year. Whilst the change to ft work was going on the council then sent me a overpayment of benefit letter for 300. They set installments for 56 a month. Then as i had to work a month before i got paid, i had my whole bill for this year sent to liability and bailiffs at end of june. I was talking to the council (who wouldnt accept installements) and they told me they were sending to bristow and sutor. So before anything could arrive on my doorstep i rang them to sort it out. They were very unhelpful, and demanded installments of 295 a month, which i couldnt afford. The council got involved and got them to accept 127 followed by monthly installemnts of 126. So far i have made to bristow and sutor the following installment amounts 127 127 126 126 Im due to send another 126 at end of nov. Then i have also made to the council for benefit overpayment the following 56 56 and im due to send another 56 at end of month On the 12 nov i moved from that property into another property (same band) and i have notified the council. They say i have to keep paying both installments to bristow and sutor and to the council, untill the end of their fin year. But in total im paying 176 for this years council tax! Iv already paid over 600 and at the end of this month (nov) will have paid 776. So with a further 4 months left of their fin year....i will have paid a grand total of 1390. I have spoke to the council and they say that i still have to pay, they cannot reduce my installments and it will stay with the bailiffs (even though the benefit overpayment hasnt) Its very messy and i really cannot afford to pay out all this on a monthly basis. I am in the process of seperating from my ex husband, so i have been told i will get a discount too, they know this but said that i still have to carry on paying what im paying. They would then refund any difference or carry it over to 2011/12 council tax. Can someone tell me if this is right please.
  21. Forgot to mention...there wasnt any signs at all, except for a small one at the back saying - service vehicles only
  22. Yes the land is owned by the owner of the businesses, approx 4 of them in a row. They are managed by an agent (who also didnt know anything about the clamper)
  23. Hi I work in a town but i am quite lucky that there is parking attached to the side of the building which is shared by 3 other businesses. A couple of weeks ago a member of staff came running in, telling me there was a ignorant man around my car. I went out to see. He said he was a clamper and was fixing signs up on the wall which said all vehicles would be clamped (there was no phone number, agent number or company name on the signs - which i didnt notice till after he had gone) Anyway he said i have 1 min to remove my car otherwise he would stick somthing on it that wouldnt come off! I said that we had parked there daily for months, so what had changed? He carried on saying he was from london and he has to pay £50 a week to park his car etc and if i value my car to move it - times ticking and i have less that a minuite to move it! He said in fact im going to clamp the one on front of you right now!!!! Then he stood there taking pictures of my car! He then informed me that the gates "must" remain locked at all times. So i ran around to inform everyone what was happening, in the flap i forgot my purse so had to borrow someones phone in a supermarket carpark to get some money to me. It was very distressing and i lost around half an hour at work, due to driving around trying to find somewhere to park in the middle of the day! A week later the agent for the landlord who owns the building came around for a friendly visit, I mentioned to him what had happened and he wasnt aware of anything but said he would do some checks. He came back a couple of days later, and told me that the landlord hasnt instructed anyone to clamp, that the company couldnt be found on the internet....he has no idea who they were!! He took pictures of the signs etc. Yesterday the signs had been ripped down! Its since came to light that a business who ajoins the driveway had instructed this clamper, she appaarantly went into next door to me and said "ha its about time they put the signs up, that will stop you". No one knows why as they have used the driveway to park there car once or twice. They also have their rubbish bins in there - even tho there yard is right the other side of their building. They have been know in the past to stir up trouble occasionally. Now everyone is scared to park there, even though the signs are down. Our delivery driver waits until after 4pm and parks out the front on the street! Which distrupts the business as we have to stay behind to sort out the delivery now. The gates (to which i have a key along with one other business) remain locked, this is a fire escape. Can anyone enlighten me as to what (If anything) i can do, it was a day from hell and has left me very scared.
  24. Forgot to mention my council tax bill for the year was £850 - (85 a month), i get £7 month council tax benefit. My arrears when i phoned them was £340.
