The housing minister, John Healey, has told the BBC that, for some people, having their home repossessed "can be the best option". Now we know what this government think thats why capstone don't seem botherd by regulation + courts Guys we on our own John Healey should get repossessed out of the country

Hi guys When I paid my mortgage on the 2nd November I asked Capstone what was happening about SPML and were they about to go into liquidation? She said she had not heard of anything but would go and ask her manager. She then came back and said that he had heard nothing either. If you can believe that. Anyway rang the FSA and they told me they would ring me back within 72 hours they must have meant 72 days!!! I had to ring them this morning to chase them. They told me they could not discuss anything about Capstone or SPML as there were no announcements being made at the moment. I do suggest that everybody rings the FSA even if its just to log the complaints.

Well done catchy have got to ring them on monday to pay my mortgage. Will ask the same questions and see what answers I get. I will also ring the FSA first to ask their advice on the fact SPML may go into bankruptcy and what's their take on the situation. What worries me about all this is if Capstone also go into insolvency what about all the records of payments of mortgages? There was some concern about this when Lehman Brothers first went down. I will post their reply on Monday!

Gr I completely agree with you these parasites do not know what they are doing when they corner people that feel there is no way out they will turn to a party like BNP Unfortunately we have no mainstream party that can deal with these bankers. We have no manufacturing left. All we had that was generating tax revenue was the City of London and as shown on Newsnight with the printing of money the bankers are making big profits. When the news came out yesterday that we were still in recession you would have expected the stock market to crash, but no it went up!! This was because the city know the government has to print more money to keep things moving. Where they are finding the money from is a complete mystery to me. I've got no allegience to any political party at the moment but I can honestly say this new Labour government does not seem to have a clue and if we vote in the Conservatives I suspect most of their supporters are bankers so it will be like giving the prisoners the cell keys! I understand in Germany that some of the richest people have asked the government to tax them higher because they feel there is too much of a gap between the rich and the poor and maybe with their experience in history they are spotting the dangers.

Hi to everyone I have been monitoring this site for a few months now and would like to thank you all for the information that has been put up on this thread. I have found it very useful and reassuring that we are not on our own fighting these people. Our situation was that our cap came off and our mortgage went up to 3% above the LIBOR rate. I contacted Capstone and told them that we would not be able to pay these high payments and they suggested that we did a modification on our mortgage. They did a credit check which we had no adverse credit on our file at that time and informed me that there would be a meeting and would get back to me asap. They contacted me and told me that they would reduce the rate and we were quite relieved. Then Lehman Brothers went bust and I guessed that the modification would not go through. I questioned them and demanded that they send me the offer in writing. They informed me that this would be sent out that same day. In the afternoon I received a phone call saying that because of a system problem they could not put it in writing for at least a couple of weeks. I rang them back and asked them is it the fact that because of Lehman Brothers demise you cannot do any modifications to our mortgage?. They said it was just a system error. I told them that I would not pay my mortgage until I received the modification in writing. This went on for six months I received nothing from them until December then I started to get aggressive telephone calls. I then reported them to the Financial Ombudsman who took up the case but I was advised to pay the mortgage which I have done since. The letter I received back from them said a verbal agreement was not binding I am now waiting for the Ombudsman's reply. I agree with some of you that the way forward is to contact our MP's which I will do and I also agree that they are not in the mortgage business and they just want their money back as fast as possible for the investors and they do not care the consequences that they cause. We are just numbers. What I think we should do is arrive at Capstone's offices in High Wycombe with a few placards maybe that would get the press interested! I would just like to thank you all again for all of your efforts and for any of you that feel like giving in - don't!.
