  1. Council tax is based on the property and not on the person income. If you have applied for council tax benefit to help you pay for your council tax then incapacity benefit is not a passport to full council tax benefit, you will have to contribute towards your council tax bill if you are receiving incapacity benefit. You will only be able to find out your council tax band from your local council office as each council charge different amounts. You are probably best going to see the CAB for a benefit check. Just for info full council tax benefit for single person you need to be receiving around £60.00 per week anything more than that will be taken into consideration. (so you have an excess of about £40.00 per week) so if you are in a high band property £30.00 sounds about right- in my opinion.
  2. Not to sure on Scotland as there rules are slightly different to our's. But they shouldn't be that much difference.
  3. i work for a local council and as far am aware you can not be charged for 2 properties at the same time. You should be able to get the bill amended, but don't go through balliffs go to the council office for the bill to be amended and for the council to recontact balliffs. You might find the balliff charges will still stand, you could could put in a appeal at the council office, depending if you notified the council at the time you moved out? the council should change the records and make your old landlord liable and the bill go to him
  4. Did you register for council tax any where else? you could go to the council tax office and request print outs of council tax dates your where liable for? This showing you where liable for council tax at a other property.

    DVLA - medical

Can anyone help? I was banned from driving 3 years ago for drink driving and looking to get my licence back. DVLA have informed me i need a medical, which is no problem. However last year i had to take a medical for the type of job i do, the medical is from a doctor (who is DVLA registered) and is valid for 5 years. I had to pay £120.00 for this. DVLA have advised me i need to take it again with a doctor who they recomend, i just don't want to pay £120.00 again i have advised them that i already have a medical. Is there anyway round paying out again? Thanks
