  1. Hi, Has anyone else received a letter from Virgin Money, who used to be a Northern Rock customer, informing them that their mortgage has been subject to a review? I received one this morning informing me of my new monthly payments. It was a very vague letter and I had to dig out a previous mortgage statement as a comparison as the letter did not actually state that my payments had changed. I found that my payments had gone up £3 a month, I know it does not sound like much but over the remaining term it adds up to over £1000! The letter was also very vague about the reasons, so I phoned. I was informed that when I remortgaged last year Northern Rock had forgotten to charge the product fee of £995 which I had agreed to add to the mortgage. I was very sceptical, a bank forgetting to charge nearly £1000??? Unlikely!! But I didn't have the correct statement to hand. Upon checking later I found that the product fee had been added last year and now Virgin Money are trying to charge it again Needless to say I shall be informing them of their mistake in no uncertain terms. Just wanted to know if anyone else had experienced something similar and warn people to double check their statements!! Cheers
  2. I am trying to help a friend out - I say helping out but I am really trying to prevent them from giving their hard earned cash away because of increasingly threatening letters from a debt collection agency. It would appear that an alleged debt originating from a PCN issued by UKPC has been passed to them. Another letter has been received today stating an outstanding amount of £150 and also listing court costs that may be incurred. To me it is very spurious and is obviously a scare tactic but my friend is very worried and would like to respond in a way that will stop them writing further letters. Thanks again....
  3. Hi, please can someone direct me to template letters specifically for dealing with DCA's in relation to PPC charges? Many thanks....
  4. Hi Guys, very interesting reading, I would like to add my tuppence worth to this debate. If I am understanding this correctly you would not have been able to see the reflective strips on the back of the van. As all mobile camera vans are required to be liveried in a way that makes them identifiable if you did receive speeding ticket it would not be enforceable. There we go, my contribution to this pedants debate. And if it makes you feel better, I have recently recieved a speeding ticket for doing 83 mph in a 70 zone. If that makes me a criminal then so be it. The police force certainly make you feel like one, I was in a company van so when they sent out the prosecution notice they insisit that your boss has to fill it in and now I have to lose a days pay attending a "Speed Awareness Scheme" where I am sure they will place special emphasis on what a naughty boy I am. My feeling is that everyone is guilty of speeding at some time or other and, like most things, it's only wrong if you get caught!!
  5. Hello all, I would be extremely grateful for any advice that anyone can offer about a Local Authority PCN issued by Aylesbury Vale DC. My wife parked in a council run carpark where the first hour is free but you still have to display a ticket from the pay and display machine. She had our 3 year old son with her and he decided that it was an ideal time to announce that he desperately needed a number 2 (kids eh?). Seeing as there was a toilet right next to the pay and display machine they quickly nipped in before they got a ticket. My wife got her free ticket immediately after but by the time she got back to the car there was already a PCN attached to the windscreen. They can only have been gone a few minutes but apparently a Civil Enforcement Officer (??!!) had observed the car for 5 minutes and then issued the PCN. I am very doubtful that the clock in the pay and display machine is correct also because the free parking ticket issued states a time 5 minutes after the PCN was "served". The PCN seems to have all the right words on it, it refers to the offence as a contravention and has the date it was served, so not much joy there. I have already emailed the council contesting the PCN and asking them to have some understanding but I would love to have a bit more ammo to stick up them! My gratitude would be boundless!! Many, many thanks.
