  3. Hello, Having uploaded this image to Photo Bucket the site informed me i need a minimum of 20 posts to link to pictures. Only alternative i could think of is trying this: swooshmedia.co.uk / ltr.jpg Without the spaces of course. Hope this will suffice!
  4. Evening, I am looking for some advice on a letter received by my wife today. Basically, this letter (which i have attempted to attach) states that she is due a previous employer an amount of £493.75 due to administrative error. This letter is completely out of the blue as she was made redundant from them nearly 5 years ago now. My first thought was ignore as I'm aware of a 5 year period in which the debt has to be written off. As you can see from the letter, this states her employment ended on 30 June 2006 which is very close to this 5 year period. However, my wife called them and spoke with an administrator who took a message. Am i right in saying that a telephone call does not constitute proof of receipt of this letter? Although this is not a large amount, I'm more ****ed off at the audacity to claim this money back without warning and after such a long time. She is extremely upset and the fact that she is heavily pregnant has not helped. It's also certainly unrealistic to ask for this amount from her, within 7 days, she has just finished college and has not worked now for over a year. It's also unlikely that she will return to any form of employment any time soon as she obviously has 1 kid to look after and another on the way. The only form of ‘income’ she receives is by way of Child Tax Credits. I use the term income lightly as this is for the benefit of my son and not a large corporate company. I would very much appreciate any advice on this matter. In the meantime, I have instructed her not to answer any calls and certainly not to accept any liability. Kind Regards, James
  5. I believe I am about to get a bank charge and would like advice on where i stand with this one. Really annoyed at this one. I have a credit card set up to take minimum payment for each month. However, I cleared my credit card and the balance has been sitting at zero now for near enough a month. This morning, I log on to find that my Credit Card is sitting with £28CR in it. Which means they have attempted to take the DD out of my other account. However, the account (also with HBOS), where the DD is to take money out is empty as I did not believe they would take a payment since clearly there is no money due. Will I get a bank charge for this even though the error lies with them? Thanks, S~
  6. Recently I have taken out a contract phone with BuyMobilePhones.net. The reason for this is I wanted the free gift which was a TV. After singing up and being accepted I was sent an email telling me about how to claim for a free gift and that I would need certain identification, identification which I do not have. The other way to get the gift was waiting 2 months for bills. But since my TV is broken now I could not afford to wait 2 months. I originally ordered this product on the 4th. I then sent an email to BuyMobilePhones.net stating that I was going to return the phone to sender and that my contract was to be cancelled. The postie came on the 5th and I instructed him to return this to sender. 3 Days later I received an email about there cancellation procedure. I then received a confirmation from Orange that my DD has been set up; I received this on the 10th. So I sent another email to say that my Account was to be cancelled immediately. I never received a reply to this. Yesterday (17/07/2008) I received a letter from Orange; it was a £40 bill. Again I sent another email pointing out the fact that I had instructed then to cancel this twice before. Both within the 7 day grace period allowed. I also emailed Orange at this point to make them aware of the situation. BuyMobilePhones.net got back to me stating that they have not yet received the phone and are chasing Royal Mail for this and are telling me that I may not be able to cancel the contract as it is now 14 days into the contract. So where do I stand? Am I now stuck in a contract even though I informed them on day one of the contract? I know I have the right to cancel within 7 days which I exercised with them but they never told Orange so who would be liable for the contract? I am still looking for a contract and will be going with Orange on the exact same plan but I am considering a different free gift and phone and a more reputable company! Any advice would be appreciated.

  8. I have one letter from next, which is my very first Bill. As you stated I moved house around about 1 week and a half after this date and clearly forgot to tell them which is my fault. I will phone next tomorrow, if they do say they sold it to Cabot. How do you mean just pay Next any ways? I notice that they have a sort code and account number on the back of this bill that will allow me to pay by internet banking. Will I just pay via this? How do I know how much I need pay though? There is an amount on my bill but will there not be any extra charges added onto this? S~
  9. Good Evening, I am looking for some advice on dealing with a Debit Collection Company. I have been receiving a call from a random number. They have been phoning me for months but I never answer numbers I do not know. One day they left me a message claiming to be Cabot financial. A quite browse on Google showed that they are Debt Collection Company. I got a copy of my Credit Report and found out I am due next directory some monies which I completely forgot about. After a quick search of some bills I turned up a bill for £140 odd pound. I think this is what Cabot are calling me about. Can any one tell me what my next step should be? I obviously want to get this paid off but I can not afford to just hand over £140, lots of other bills need to be paid. Quick Questions: - As it was £140 2 years ago can I expect that to have risen significantly? - How can I find out if this is what Cabot are after? - How long will this stay on my credit record for? - What are CCJ’s, How do I know if I have one and how long do they stick around for? I have read a couple of threads, obviously my small debt is nothing in comparison to some other people on here, but its still kind of worrying none the less as I have a family to feed and don’t want this on my record for the future. I have been on Cabot’s website and they have ‘Secure Area’ in which you can log on and detail do it all from there. Would any one recommend this? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Regards, S~
