  1. Really??? He seemed more concerned to inform me that my home insurance would not cover my new purchase and that when I worked it out, the cost was only a few pounds per week. I get to the point of irritation with them where I just leave the shop without purchasing anything!
  2. I bought an iPad on Sunday, yes I know I know! I told the young lad I only wanted the unit when he started waffling on about extras but he wouldnt have it. He then said 'Its the law I have to go though this with you', he then tried to sell me a cover, a case, a screen protector, the he started on about warranties, so I just let him go on and said 'no' everytime he paused. So what with this 'its the law I go through this with you' ?
  3. This is correct, you should obtain a receipt from the person to whom the money is going, they would take it into account then.
  4. WOW...... There was more information in that post than I got in two weeks. Nothing posted on this site was meant to be taken as a review of your company and Im sure you have lots of happy customers, although I was unable to post a review of you on the ekomi site you mentioned, just as well really, but its hardly a realistic apraisil if you only publish positive comments. It got so bad that I had spoken to Trading Standards, this is not what I expected so was quite disappointed, I was worried that I had had my phone stolen, and was taking advice on how to recover it, so can only speak from a personal point of view. I run a business and can assure you that if a customer contacted me, they would get a prompt response, but your company had my expensive piece of hardware, and never replied to anything!! Emails, telephone calls, contact on the website, nothing. I dont understand why you would invest in "new technology" when you cant answer a phone or reply to an email, I understand you coming on here to try and limit the damage if you are showing up in search engines in a negative light, but whos fault is that? And it could have been avoided by simply answering any one of the numerous emails you were sent. You are suprised I thought '[problem]'? Incidently, about the repair you quoted me £100 for, I got the unit repaired locally, the cost, £0. Turns out it was a bent pin behind the screen!
  5. You have done far too much already, stop contacting them and start ignoring them, its not a fine and you dont have to pay it. Tell your wife not to worry and they are all bark and no bite, read through some of the other posts on here. Then go into Tesco and tell them you will not be shopping there anymore.
  6. The part where they say "Failure to pay the increase amount will result in G24 Ltd forwarding the outstanding debt to a Debt Recovery Agency where you may incur additional costs" actually means "Failure to pay will wind us up, and we will pass it on to the cleaner on the next desk to see if they have any more luck trying to [problem] you" Ignore all of it.
  7. I know rules are different for domestic but Im asking about businesses.
  8. Sorry Im a layman.. "evidential purposes"? So it cant be put before a court?
  9. I dont want to cause any problems....... My question isnt about residential cameras, its about a business using them, I know the rules are different. If a business camera caught something on a public road which it shouldnt be looking at, could it be used as evidence in court or could a solicitor get it thrown out?
  10. So if you were to use a road that the CCTV picked up and there were no signs on that road, that would breach the data protection act?
  11. Thats all fine... Hope Im not going off topic now but lets suppose there had been this accident picked up on this CCTV and it was clear that someone diliberatly caused an accident, would the police prosecute or just leave it for insurance?
  12. What about if the camera was covering a car park and on the outskirts of the frame it picked up a public road. On this road there was say as per the earlier example a RTC, because its on the outskirts of the frame the quality is poor and the framerate is low, could you use this evidence or would it be thrown out as obtained illegally or because the quality is poor. If you couldnt make out a number plate or faces would it still be admissable?
  13. Thats a good answer Buzby thanks, the way I understand it is that unless its proved to be sealed and authentic a solicitor could argue that it has been contaminated, all conditions of the Data Protection Act. i.e. Someone has edited the footage?? Is there anything in this? I have CCTV on my property and domestic is different to a business who have Data Protection issues. I know I could get into trouble pointing my camera through someones window, but thought a business couldnt have coverage of a public place.
  14. I know the police and council don't need permission but what about a business? They can record their premises, but what about a public space? I thought they aren't allowed to record a public place??? If there had been say a RTC on a public road could the businesses footage be used to establish blame in a court if it had picked it up in a public place? It sounds like a minefield all this proof of no tampering, I'm sure a solicitor would have fun with it?
  15. Well against all the odds I got the phone back, 13 days theyve had it but not been repaired. I will find someone more reliable now.
  16. Im not sure where to post this so will try here.... Does anyone know the law regarding CCTV evidence? I am led to believe that if a business has CCTV which covers public highway, that it cannot be used as evidence, if it covers their property it can but not public highway, any truth in this??
  17. Ive had something happen overnight.......... Ive had an email off them saying........."Further to your letter today we have refunded your payment and returned your device to you. Kind regards, iPhone Repairs" Having checked paypal, they have indeed refunded the money, so will just wait and see if the phone turns up! The address you found is the one I sent it to and was on their site.
  18. Thanks Buzby, I know what you mean about the warning signs! They have actually emailed me today saying that it has had to go to specialist center for the part which I can understand, and I have already written to them giving them 7 days so will see what happens. I have also contacted my network and told them whats happened and they have blocked the handset, they also said it hasnt been used since the date I sent it for repair so fingers crossed.
  19. Has anyone got any advice for me on this? This is an expensive piece of kit and the company that I sent it to for repair are simply not replying to me and there is no sign of my phone.
  20. I wasnt sure if I should do that or not, but seeing as its come up they are i-phone-repairs.co.uk
  21. I sent my iphone to a company I found on the internet who said they could repair it within 24 hrs and have it back to me in another 24hrs, so I sent it special delivery. On my account page they sent me a message saying it would cost £100 in total. I asked them to expalain the required repairs, but got no reply, I then told them to go ahead with the repair but got no reply. They have a live chat option on their site so I spoke on several occations to different people who agreed it wasnt good business to not contact me. I said their site hadnt given me the invioce to pay the £100 and they said the supervisor needs to do it, this happened several times, in the end I said if its not done by 8pm just send it back. Then I got the invoice so I paid it by paypal. Now they are not answering my emails, direct contact on their site or the live chat option and the phone number they give always goes to answerphone. What are my chances of getting my phone back?
  22. Ignoring everything from now on sounds like a good idea.
  23. It looks like I was mistaken about it being council, Ive been to have a look and it does not mention council on the signs, whats confused me is that the local market is held on this site and I had been assured it was council run, but it seems not. IMG_0199 on Flickr - Photo Sharing! Nor the ticket machine IMG_0200 on Flickr - Photo Sharing! It does say a ticket must be obtained, but no mention of displayed!!! The council office is only a 2 minute walk from here so to be sure I would go and ask anyway.
  24. Absoloutly, ignore away if its private and appeal if its council. I will personally go today myself and have a look, I hope Im wrong about it being council, but will check.
  25. It may not matter who runs it but you still should not ignore if its council, I think the board needs checking to confirm what it does and does not say. I understand that even the Iceland is now council, I forget the company but thought it was private, the sign does say 'Broxtowe Borough Council'.
