  1. Well the letter is going into the post on Friday and when I get a response I'll let you all know the news!
  2. Many thanks to both of you. Tell me if I'm being rude, but would you mind if I asked if you've missed any payments?
  3. Many thanks for your input. Any ideas on percentage? Does anyone have the contact address and phone number for Welcome?
  4. Because taking out credit, and repaying it without missing any payments shows a good credit history. I realise that if I continue paying my credit score will be fine, nowhere did I ask that. I asked for advice on whether a F&F would be considered by them. Why post a useless response?
  5. I have a secure loan with Welcome - taken out to improve my credit score. I have had no issues paying the monthly payment, and haven't missed a single one since taking out the loan. After seeing the news about them on here I'm wondering if it's worth a punt at a F&F settlement? The amount is about £15k, but like I say it is secured, and the equity is there in my house to cover it. Advice?
  6. I had a bank account with HSBC which I ceased to use fully two years when I moved to Barclays. Last year they removed the OD from the account with no notice to me - the first I heard of it is when the collections team contacted me. I agreed with that team that I would pay the balance in full by the end of January this year. In the middle of Jan they passed my account to MCS. I rang them who then told me to ring HSBC. HSBC said they would retreive my account from MCS and to ring back at the end of Jan to clear, as previously agreed. I rang at the end of Jan and the account was still with MCS, I was told to leave it two more weeks and ring back. Around 10th Feb I get a letter from DG Solicitors with their usual rubbish on it. I rang them, who were rude and obnoxious. I then rang HSBC who were wholly unhelpful, and refused to deal with the matter over the phone. It was at this time I did a credit file search on Equifax and saw that they defaulted my account in Jan when they passed it to MCS - something they promised me would never happen unless I went against my agreement to clear the account at the end of Jan. I have sent them a recorded letter, but as yet have received no response. All advice greatly appreciated as I have spent six long years maintaining a perfect credit record following some previous problems. I feel like screaming after all the stress I've had these last few years.
  7. My credit file has been perfect for six years. I have had a mortgage for the last three, along with multiple other credit agreements - some of which settled and some still running. I am looking to sell and move to rented accommodation. HSBC erroneously placed a default onto my credit file Dec of last year - will this affect my chances of renting a property?
  8. Thank you so very much! It's been a long and hard six years, and I'm looking forward to the ability of using mainstream credit at last.
  9. Hello all, I had an IVA registered in Jan 2004 which was then settled in Dec 2004. When will the court information be removed from my file? I'm crossing my fingers for Jan 2010!
  10. I've been going back and forth with these swines for a while now, and finally have a response which may (hopefully) prove fruitful - at least with someone's help it may do. Attached is the latest letter back from them, and the stumbling block to my own knowledge of how to proceed. I welcome any ideas on how to respond, with the ultimate goal of default removal - I have two from them! Many thanks "I write further to your letter of XXX with my apologies for not responding sooner. The Vodafone Limited airtime agreement is not a regulated product for the purposes of the Consumer Credit Act 1974 and therefore and statutory obligations regarding the format or timeframes for such a default notice are irrelevant (side not I did a cca and then an SAR). There are therefore no formal Default Notices held by Vodafone Limited in respect of the above account, which is why they have not been provided as part of your subject access request. The account notes that you were sent by my colleague on XXX will indicate those occasions when we have tried to contact you regarding outstanding monies on your account - there will either be a reference to "Collections" or "Coll" or a "DL letter". These are our records of our attempts to contact you about outstanding monies. These attempts are not made because we are obliged to do so by the Consumer Credit Act but rather because we have tried to collect oustanding monies as part of our collection process. Given that your complaint appears to be founded on your belief that we have unlawfully recorded a default on your credit reference record, I have asked my colleagues in the relevant team to carry out a full investigation of this matter and get back to me with a full explanation of the history of this matter so that I can respond to your complaint about the default more fully."
  11. Managed loan? I keep seeing it mentioned but have no idea what it actually is. Thankfully, my financial position now is pretty strong, I just want to avoid paying that full amount if at all possible!
  12. It annoys me how hard nosed some of the companies I'm dealing with are. HSBC and Egg are by far the worst, they seem to go out of their way to be difficult.
  13. Would it be worthwhile/plausible to offer £3100 now on the condition they remove the default instantly, and then pay the rest in instalments?
  14. Sadly, that account with the charges on it is not this one I really do appreciate all the help I've gotten so far, just reading this forum has helped me work out so many of my accounts.
  15. Hello, This is regarding a HSBC current account which went heavily overdrawn (long story). The account is now being looked after by CDRU. The amount owing is £4800, and I've been increasing the offer and each time they've rejected it. My last offer was £3100, but they're adamant they won't take less than £3800! Has anyone had any luck with these guys? Part of my settlement terms is the removal of a default, has this been an issue for anyone?
  16. Theanalyst: You, Sir, are wonderful! That's brilliant news for me, as I'm sure it is for many others. By the way, it's nice to see at least someone is having success with regard removal of defaults!
  17. Equifax shows up Partially Satisfied on their credit files - I know from personal experience! I don't think it really makes any negative impact as long as there is no default and bad payment history showing.
  18. I thought that accounts stayed on file for six years from the date they're settled? That's what Experian have told me in the past.
  19. Sadly, they will show for six years from the date of the account being satisfied; whether that means the default drops off and it just shows as a normal account I don't know, but I do doubt it.
  20. Hello one and all. I have a car through ACF and funded via TFC. I am about 26 months into a 62 month term, and now wish to end the agreement. I would like to VT the car and pay the extra 5 months to allow me to do that, but as I understand it a BoS means this is not possible; is there any clause that allows one to exit a contract under a BoS early, without having to pay the remaining balance in full. All payments upto now have been paid on time, and via DD. The car was approx £8k, and as you can imagine, there is still nearly that amount owing, whereas the car is only worth £3k and I am due to change it anytime soon - I had no other option at the time, and was keen to rebuild an impacted credit record, hence shaking hands with the devil 26 months ago. Many thanks
  21. At worst, there will be a one inch wide chase into the wall leading to every switch and socket - these will obviously be plastered by someone, and then need redecorating. The worst thing will be the dust whilst it's being done! If you have young children who suffer from asthma, it may be worth considering staying elsewhere whilst the worst work is being done (usually one day, two at the most).
  22. Although, they may not be willing to redecorate to the standard which you previously had it (wallpaper, for example). At least your home will be a safer place for you and your's?
  23. And I understand what you're saying as regards them not being able to force any product onto you, but I just assumed (evidently wrongly) that there was some legal loophole which allowed them to do this. Surely noone would want car finance without it, especially considering how cheap it is?
  24. Well, from my experience, all car finance companies have insisted on GAP being taken out, I presumed it was for the obvious reasons regarding a car being written off, as in this instance. It's the only insurance worth having, in my opinion.
