  1. The Oxford CC have thrown out the A & L defence and awarded me the judgement!! A & L failed to submit their skeleton defence in time. Wragge & Co have today tried to settle for a lower amount after being given 3 opportunities to do so earlier! Why would I want to settle now when I have won! I will now resubmit a full claim including all the updated interest charges, court fees etc (£3300) and also try to get some money back for the time I have spent dealing with this. I understand that the judge may award this to me but they don't have to. Has anyone else managed to get anything back for personal time? Thanks for all the advice

  3. Congratulations! We have just been successful too! After 6 months Nat West finally agreed to settle in full with us yesterday (although the cheque has not arrived yet)! We had gone through all the steps and rejected the initial offer made to us, finally getting the court allocation letter from Oxford C C. We then sent a "nudge" letter to Cobbetts and followed up with a phone call. The original solicitor was "away" and so I dealt with a very professional AND pleasant Australian woman. Her attitude was much better than her colleagues and she agreed to discuss it directly with NW. The following day she called US back and said N W had agreed to settle the full amount and to expect a cheque in the next couple of days! Assuming that it does arrive we are very happy with the resolution! Best of luck to everyone else and thanks also for all the great information we have gleened from these forums! Alliance & Leicester should have received our court bundle yesterday - court date Aug 14th..... HANG IN THERE! vbrep_register("999153")

  5. We've reached the final part of the process with A & L. We are claiming £3000 since January 07, they initially offered us £900 then with the help of a "nudge" letter last week where we offered to settle for £2600 they offered us £1800 in full and final settlement, as well as us having to agree to their T & Cs for all future charges. We obviously refused this and have now sent them the court bundle claiming the full amount (charges, interest and all expenses). The court date is 14th August at Oxford C C - is anyone else going to be there on that day? The court tells me all the bank claims are going to be dealt with on that day. Nat West have been easier to deal with. We had to go down the court proceedings route but once we got it allocated we sent a "nudge" letter to Cobbetts and they agreed to settle the full amount (£1655).
