  1. Thank you so much for all your advice. I don't know how he managed to get the loan. Purple Payday's website states you must be 18, so I can only assume he lied on his application! Hopefully, he has learnt a good lesson. Am busy drafting the letter now, and will post an update when we hear. Once again, I appreciate the advice. Many thanks.
  2. I have just found out my grandson has a payday loan with purple payday. (I know he is my flesh and blood, but what a muppet!) He was temping at the time, and of course is now unemployed, so they have been hounding him for repayments which he cannot make. He is only 17. Is it illegal to give a loan to someone this age? If so, does anyone know how we can get the loan cancelled?
  3. (drumming fingers) ... still waiting for Co-operative Bank to return the interest on the premiums already paid. They now contend they don't owe me anything (after making a pathetic offer). The Financial Ombudsman is now on their back, they have 7 days to reply.
  4. Good luck to you too. It must be a difficult decision for those who've only been offered a token amount, like £750, when they are owned thousands. Whether to accept the small offer, or hold out on the offchance of a bigger settlement in a year or so? It's a real gamble.
  5. DON'T AMEND THE ACCEPTANCE FORM! That's the message I received from the FO this morning. Just sign, date and return to them, otherwise it's not acceptable! REPEAT ... DON'T AMEND THE ACCEPTANCE FORM !! :o :o :o They are kindly re-sending my form to sign without alterations, phew.
  6. Oh well done, I guess we are the lucky ones. Have been reading some really sad stories on the forum. Some people are owed thousands, and have been counting on the refunds.
  7. I agree, strange how the power can shift from us to them overnight :o I will definitely post a reply here from the Ombudsman on Monday, will ask if the agreement is still valid if we signed "without prejudice", if you want to hold on 'til then (with the postal strikes, who know when mail will be delivered?). At least you have your offer, they have to abide by it whatever happens.
  8. Thanks Lizzy, yes that was right down to the wire! Re your settlement, I would accept it for now, but we crossed out the bit where it said "full and final settlement", and wrote "without prejudice" in it's place, so that we can try for the rest later, depending on the outcome of the Case. Hope we haven't made a mistake by doing that! Will phone the FO first thing Monday to find out, and will post right back here as soon as I find out.
  9. Hi Itsme, Maybelline, Hellhas and others, just popped back to see how you are all doing. Itsme, sorry to hear things are dragging, you sounded so down in your message, hope you are feeling better now. At least your case will continue, not like the poor claimants for bank charges. (That's why I am posting so late, have been reading all the threads here and on moneysavingexpert!) Will keep popping back for updates, hang in there my lovelies
  10. Whew, made it by the skin of our teeth, received a letter from Lloyds via the FO yesterday offering full and final settlement of the whole amount but without the interest, and we signed acceptance! Although I have read that any offers made by the banks up until yesterday are still valid, even if you haven't yet signed your acceptance.
  11. Hullo jster, see my thread Flower vs Co-op PPI via FOS. I do recommend them, and with the courts being so full, you would probably wait just as long to get a hearing. Also, the financial institutions tend to go a bit weak-kneed when threatened with the FO. That's only my opinion, and you may want to proceed via MCOL, but I would say the FO is less painful! Good luck, whatever you decide
  12. Hi Maria, carinas, mich7k and everyone else on this thread ... VICTORY!! See my thread Flower vs Co-op PPI via FOS. They refunded the PPI in full. Best of luck to you all, may you have the same success.
  13. Well would you believe it ..... THEY CAVED IN!!! Yes, the Co-Operative Bank have refunded my PPI IN FULL. They credited the original amount to my loan account during the week. HOORAY!! :D After months of them digging in their heels, one letter from the Financial Ombudsman, and I'm a happy bunny!! Please excuse all the exclamation marks !!! but it's been a long tough road, the bank really played hard-ball, and it makes my victory even sweeter (here comes another one) !!! and more of these :D Now we are negotiating refund of interest paid on the premiums, and I have to decide whether to reduce the monthly loan repayment or continue paying the same amount and reduce the repayment time. As this was a budget issue, I will go with the former. Best of luck to Itsmeandonlyme, Carinas, mich7k and all of you trying to get your PPI refunded, it can be done !!! (Oh, I'm so very happy)!!
  14. She hasn't checked her account yet. But it's nice to know the FO are fighting her corner, received the followed letter from the FO this morning:- "...The bank have told (daughter) that - in it's view - the charges it has made to their account were levied fairly in accordance with its tariff. It does not appear to have made an offer that fully meets what you have asked for. I have therefore written to the bank to invite it to: make an offer which meets (daughter's) claim in full; or provide me with the information I believe I shall need to reach a conclusion on the merits of (daughter's) claim. "As you may know, in almost all the charges complaints we have considered, banks have made offers to meet the claim ... I will let you know as soon as Lloyds TSB Bank Plc tells me whether it is prepared to settle (daughter's) claim ..." On the whole, I think this is the more stress-free way to go, hopefully with the same outcome as through the courts. Good luck to all who are claiming, life is looking good!
  15. Received the usual £750 "take-it-or-leave-it" fob-off letter today. Phoned my daughter in Spain, she told them to stick it. Sent rejection letter. It's already in the hands of the Ombudsman, so don't know why Lloyds even bothered to make the offer. Still rubbing hands in glee, after the Hull victories!! Well done to all concerned.
