  1. I think i may well leave it, as for the sake of a few pounds not worth the hassle. Many thanks for your replys and help. If i deceide to take it further will let you know.
  2. Thanks for reply, no wonder you were mixed up I was myself aswell. Got mixed up a bit with the different garages, hopefully I've made it a bit easier to read below. Garage No 2 fitted and charged me for thermostat. Car still had no heating. Garage no 3 fixed the heating by installing a thermostat as none in the car, which garage No 2 charged me for. Garage No 1 can disregard as they replaced the faulty valve. I have recieved a reciept from Garage No 2 but it seems to be my word and garage No 3 against his as to car not having thermostat when returned to me.
  3. Hi Connif, thanks for replying. I have got a reciept from the garage but my complaint is that I paid him for work and parts that were not complete. My car is now going grand after the 2nd garage put a thermostat in my car which I paid the 1st garage to do.
  4. Update: got a reciept from the mechanic, total of 140.00 paid for services which included replacement of themrostat and housing, replace and fixture of radiator and for something else aswell, which I forget. Could someone please help and guide to which why I should handle this.
  5. Looking for a bit of advice on how to deal with this situation. Story goes as Water leaking from car, took to usual mechanic who replaced a valve. Drove car for 2 days to work and on 2nd day car started over heating. Left car at work as 20 miles from home. Got a mechanic close to workplace to take a look at car. Says must be the thermostat and order 1. Replaced thermostat, still over heating, says the themocup? is cracked and needs replaced. Car still overheating so he takes out the radiator and takes it to an engineer to have a look, twice he done this. Anyway after a week he came to the conclusion that the valve that was replaced was faulty and needs replaced by the garage who put it in for me at home. So i get the car back (collecting it from his home as it was after working hours. Paid him the money £140.00 but didnt get a reciept)and the heating is not working, mechanic says he turned it to cold until i get the valve replaced. Says it should work fine after this. Now i dont know anything about car's which is the reason I use mechanic's but when i got the car back their was no oil in it either. Still no heating after valve replaced and Im working so havnt had time to check car checked again for 3rd time with different garage to fix the heating. About a month after i got the car back i take it to the garage to check the heating and they tell me that there is no thremostat in the car. I say that I paid for new one to go in to it and explain the story. Have tried to contact this so called mechanic but is away on holiday and so going down this week to ask my reciept and to see why he charged me for work which was not complete. Just looking for a bit of advice on which way to deal with this situation and was considering informing the Trading Standards ppl and if I dont get a reciept also the VAT office. I am in Northern Ireland.
  6. Just thought I'd let you's all know that my friend was taking Ulster bank. He was about to submit court action when he got a letter from them Saturday week past to say that he was getting all charges back. As of today he still hasn't got the funds.
  7. thanks sunshine, i'll give it a shot anyway
  8. Could someone please help, I sent off a letter to first trust for my bro, but I added in the 8% interest will this harm his claim in any way or should I resubmit his claim without the interest. Recieved a letter this morning saying they accepted the letter and dealing with it.
  9. Have it all done now and going through the step by step guide. Have 900.00 odd to claim. I see that I dont add the interest at this stage, I had sent a letter of for my brother and added his interest, will his claim be disregarded now because of my error.
  10. thanks for that jansus, but low and behold my statemnets arrived on saturday and monday. I've read that they do keep us waiting, so i'm on to the next stage now.
  11. Back again, sent off my LBA to ask for my statements as hadn't recieved them. Its almost 3 weeks now and still no sign off them. Should I apply to court now or should I give them a ring. When I first sent in my SAR's I enclosed a chq for each account, the bank debited the money from my accounts under the heading DATA PROTECTION, but also cashed the chq's a few days short of the 40 day deadline. Was wondering if anyone else has had the same issue.
  12. Hey just an update as my 40 days and nights have now passed without any word or documents from A&L. I called their customer services and explained why I was calling and asked why no statements where sent out. The lady said that they have a pack to fill in to deal with these bank charge requests and that she could send one out. I asked her why they cashed the cheque if there were not dealing with my request in which she transferred me to another department (the 3rd time transferred) where I was put on hold and eventually hung up as I was waiting 6 minutes. I have sent a LBA recorded delivery stating that they have 14 days to deliver my data before I take court proceedings, so another waiting period for me.
  13. Hi All Just joined earlier but have been reading with interest on the many cases against A&L and have decided to jump on the bandwagon
