  1. i called the council to make an agreement for this years council tax as of yet i haven't paid any and was told they cant enter an agreement now until a liability order is made on it. she couldn't set up dd for when i get paid so i have there details and will pay standing order on payday and hope they can see im making a effort. ive applied for council tax benefit and been told we would get based on income to fill in all the forms and have a meeting with then to then be told no we can claim it.
  2. thats an old resolved debt. ive gotten into a bit of a cycle with the council tax of paying bailiffs and not having enough money to pay this years council tax and then having bailiffs again . but its getting better. i was up to date with the council tax until xmas hit then i was off work for 2 months sick and have been on a phased return to work. im now back to my normal hours but unable to do all the overtime i used so the last few months have been a struggle.
  3. hi yes there is a liability order and i have put on the letter that is the bailiff doesn't accept my offer i will pay direct to council, my only worry with paying it direct to council is that they take it off this years council tax and not what is left from last year.
  4. ok we are a middle terrace so there could anyone of my neighbours cars parked outside. i will get my husband to park it in the nearby carpark.
  5. my husbands out working and has the car. would it matter if its his car and not mine i don't even have a driving licence.
  6. hi i have had a call from a bailiff about council tax from last year. he called last week when i had a house full of kids so said he would come back today. i would just like to know if in doing right. i have no intention of letting him into the house and a written a letter to give to him offering to pay £80 pm when i get paid on the 23rd. is this ok to do thanks sarah x
  7. Yes only 39 pound for their charges they have been to the house now 4 times. Twice before I paid and twice after . I assume they are charges for calling to the house I have only spoken to them once at the door. Other times I have been out or sleeping. I never let them in and said I would be asking council about debt first .
  8. Was 280 pound left owing from last year I had assumed it was added onto this years amount but apparently not. I paid in full to council last month as I don't want to deal with bailiffs. They have called twice since leaving letters for their charges. Last one was today saying I had to pay by end of day and they don't be giving me anymore chances. I know its not much and could pay but have been budgeting this week so I can pay something to the mortgage when I call them and hopefully make some arrangement with them
  9. hi i had bailiffs call for money owed to the council. i haven't let them in and paid the council direct. they have called twice now for their charges which are £39. what powers do they have to collect these. do i have to pay it all or can i offer £5 pm for it, being totally skint now and off work ill. my priorities it to get the mortgage back up to date as have missed 2 payments now this year.
  10. thanks for you help i have contacted the funeral director and asked them to break down the cost of the cars for us as we feel that they were a bit excessive, so we will wait for that. the reason for the short fall is that the insurance is due to pay £210 as it was only 6 month old they are paying just what was paid in to it and not the full amount which would have been nearly £4000. the sad thing is that my father-in-law must have taken out the insurance as he must have know he didn't have long to cover the funeral costs. he told me the insurance would cover the funeral but obviously he didn't have as long left as he thought.
  11. well yes, thast what i thought would have cost the most and would surely come under burial costs? for social fund purposes.
