  1. It appears to me that the best way to get action from Nationwide is sent all correspondence regarding your claim to Charles Bacon by recorded delivery. He is obviously aware of the legalities of the situation and there will no conflicting messages from different parts of customers services (sic)

  2. Thats what I thought Alan TBH I don't really care as long as the money is credited.

It does make you wonder if some parts of the organisation have accepted the inevitable but the systems have not caught up yet

  3. If any mod is reading then perhaps a name change to "Oh wise and great one" would be in order.

To be serious I am now spreading the good news about this site on other forums that have huge memberships. The only way the banks are going to take us seriously is greater pressure from customers

    MODS ARE ALWAYS READING....LOL

  4. Am I reading your original post right? You were repaid the charges in full after just the preliminary letter?

    Excellent result, well done you.

Yes and in less than a week. I didn't send the prelim letter until last Monday and got refunded today

  5. youve done really well to get them to pay up so early...hopefully they have woken up to the fact that to defend or stall is a waste of time and money...well done

I didn't do anything other than follow the excellent advice on this site. keep it up and if I can do anything to help anyone else then I will. The sad fact is, although I have got a result, punitive charges are being raised at this moment and 95% of the people they are being applied to have no idea how to get their money.

  6. Survey completed and I take your point about the interest. I may just cut my losses on this as nationwide deserve a bit of credit for pleading guilty at the first opportunity;)

If any is interested about the sequence of events, after the DPA request was fullfilled I sent the prelim letter by recorded delivery to Charles Bacon along with an email copy and voila.

  7. I claimed for £2545.91 in a preliminary request on Tuesday and today was credited with £1973. ( the amount of the claim less interest).

A good result as I think I made a b**ls of the interest element of the claim. I claimed all of the interest payments for the months that I had charges levied even though I had an authorised overdraft. I'm not sure how much of those interest charge were due to a genuine charge for my overdraft and a punitive charge for going over the limit.

Any advice on how to calculate this would be appreciated as well as how to pursue the claim for interest.

On another note its nice to see that our campaign is causing the banks, and the Nationwide, in particular to respond to our claims in a civilised manner.

  8. Got my statements back today with what now appears to be the standard Nationwide response to manual intervention . Now going to start going through 6 Years worth with a calculator

Let you know how it goes

    Brian

ps I've noticed that there is an instance of manual intervention in section 2 of the bundle ie the reply from Mr Christopher Swales in respose to the initial response and the letter from Gary Perkins outlining the instances of when manual intervention may have taken place. How come they can supply these examples but no others?

  9. Got quite irritated listening to some of the contributers to the programme. Some people cannot seem to understand that regardless of the terms and condition it is unlawful. I wish I could have them for customers in my business:rolleyes:

  10. Got the standard letter from Chris Swales today saying there were no charges for the DPA request and statements were on the way

    I will keep you posted

  11. I have been reading this debate with interest as I am new to these forums. My own experiences with Nationwide is they would pay a DD when I was over my overdraft limit, return the amount to my account as unpaid a couple of days later and then charge a penalty.

Getting into debt is one of the most depressing situations one can find oneself in and the banks do not help. They are not there to provide counselling and support but they actively exacebate the problem.

Thank goodness I have now sorted the finances(with help from Nationwide BTW) but I have still started the process to reclaim the money that was illegally taken.

  12. Hi

This is my first post. I have sent off my DPA request for statements covering the last six years. I am encouraged by some of the stories on the forums and I hope Nationwide pay up quickly in my case. The advice and support is great and I hope I can contribute with a positive outcome
