  1. Hi, Please can anyone give me advice on what to do. I was a sole trader and bought an ongoing business (sandwich bar & Coffee shop) in 2007. However in March 2013 i had to make the difficult decision to close the shop up and dissolve the business due to the recession and health issues. But I am still tied into a long lease. The agents representing the Landlord (Bournemouth University) are now hounding me for rent on the shop and the council are requesting continued payment for rates and Bournemouth Bid Levy, money i just do not have. I am now un employed and having to claim benefits. I own my home and pay a mortgage and I am terrified that the Landlord and council will try to get me to sell my home as this is where my assets are. I am aware that the landlord will do everything in their power to try to get me to pay rent, and im worried that because i have assets in my home, can they take my home away from me. I am prepared to go to court over this, I a not a criminal and did not wish this to happen, i tried everything to avoid going bust, but my losses in the business were getting worse and i could not continue to tade.. does anyone have any advice thanks Vince
  2. Like the title says, to claim working tax credits as sole trader, do I need to record the hours worked? I will be working 30 hours a week, will they need/ask for prove of this, so will I need to keep a record? I looked around the web for a couple of hours for the answer, but Google is not working well for me today
  3. Hi All, I would like to see if anyone could give me some advice on a situation that caused me great hardship. I had been a sole trader for several years banking with HSBC. I finally decided to open a LTD company with family members as my work load had increased causing my turnover to go up massively, which in turn kept me up at night worrying. So along comes the business manager for HSBC and advises me that the way forward is invoice factoring for the Ltd company as I had referred a major portion of the work to it. The factoring had been set up and no sooner had we changed everything then HSBC decide that there is a problem and £200,000 worth of invoices are trapped in the system! A very obvious cash flow problem occurred and HSBC decided that the best solution would be to remove funds from my sole trader account and divert it to the Ltd company account. Now I was not employed by the Ltd company and my personal pay came from my sole trader account. I had given a loan to the Ltd company to start it off and this is the association HSBC used. Could someone please advise me whether HSBC has acted illegally as I have never signed any form of agreement to fund/ support the Ltd Company as an individual. Thanks in advance
