  3. Stil nothing from I.F... Phoned them this morning and was told to give it another week cos the request is sent to a particular department, and they could take a week to send the info out... It's only £25 i'm querying, but how they handle this small amount will help me understand how obstructive other banks might be when i try to get refunds from them... Next thing is to work out how my scanner works so i can get their reply on this site...
  4. Hi all, Went to my Barclays Branch today and said i needed copy statements going back to 2000 and i wondered how to go about it and how much it would cost. I thought i'd ask face to face before being all formal and sending DPA request to a faceless bureaucrat. The very nice woman on the counter filled in a form for me with the start and end dates and said it would cost £5 and take about 14 days. I asked if i could have a photocopy of the form, which was no problem. From reading various posts on this site, it appears that some banks are quite happy to oblige and send copy statements, either free of charge or for only £5. IMHO a trip to the branch is a good first step, and it saved me a fiver!
  5. Hi all... I asked Barclaycard for copy statements, simply to fill gaps in my records, from Oct 2003 to March 2004 and for Aug 2004. I asked if it would cost £21 (for 7 statements) or £10 as per DPA. The reply wasn't clear but I was told that statements going back to May 2004 would be £10, but before May 2004 would cost £3 each. I've asked for clarification and why the cut-off date has been applied...
  6. Bookworm, Re your post about council charge of £160 being upped to £350 with solicitors costs... Bit off-topic, but thought i'd add my half shekel into the discussion... I'm a book-keeper and 1 of my clients owed a creditor £1200 and had a letter from their solicitors asking for the debt plus £20 statutory interest (Fair enough...) AND £250 solicitors fees. I phoned and said that on the basis that i'd had ONE letter from the solicitors, they were probably charging £500/hour cos it probably took less than half hour to run off that letter. I got the name of their senior partner from their website before phoning and asked if Mr XXXX, or the Law Society for that matter, would think that £250 for 1 letter was reasonable. I said i'd like a breakdown of what the £250 was for. They couldn't give me an answer so i said i'm happy to pay the debt and interest, but could someone get back to me with a more reasonable figure for solicitors fees. Had a call back in 5mins saying they'd accept £100 instead of £250. My client said ok and i sent 6 post-dated cheques a fortnight apart... Might be worth a try...
  7. Hi all, I'm a newbie that found this site via Martin Lewis' site. Thought i'd phone I.F. cos i was charged £25 for being ONE day late with my credit card payment in January. The bloke i spoke to offered me 50% without batting an eyelid, but if i didn't accept it, the full £25 would stand. I said i wanted full refund cos its not legally enforceable, and asked if he could send me a breakdown of what exactly the £25 was made up of, seeing as its all automated anyway. He said he'd put it in the post, so i'm waiting to see what fairy story they come up with... Barclays owe me about £200 on my personal account and my boss has paid £5200 to Natwest in bounced cheque/DD fees since Jluy 2004... I'm telling all my friends about these unfair fees, but half of them don't believe me that Joe Public can actually get this money back... Keep the Faith, Comrades (Actually, don't keep it, SPREAD IT!!!)
