thanks for that. it enrages me that they can just do it and do it using a false reason. i've set up accounts with Smile and will transfer over after i've been paid at the end of the month. i am going to pursue this with ofcom

Hi thanks for this info. I'll send them a letter and then contact the FSO. I have fortunately already got a dormant account with smile which i have now put in the process of activating. I have overdrafts on both my accounts with first direct, but can pay them off easily. this is what is so frustrating. the letter sent to me dated 16 november says i have continued to exceed my agreed facility which simply isn't true. the excess occurred in September.

hi. this site helped me claim back a substantial amount of charges from first direct. unfortunately, 3 months later, they have decided to close my accounts down giving me until 18 december. the excuse they are giving is that I went over my authorised limit on one of my accounts. I did, for about 4 days, in september. I got charged for doing so and successfully demanded a refund. Oh dear! on the 15 nov Mr Kernaghan of 'customer relations' sends me the letter telling me that they no longer want me as a customer. they refuse to talk to me, is there anything I can do?
