  1. Thankyou everyone for your time and advice. Problem has been resolved. I went to the Council office and told them what had been going on, they immediately phoned Rossendales, got quite cross with them and told them to continue to allow me to pay as agreed (by end of month) Result!!!:)
  2. Hi Rae, TBH, when he levied it it was in really good condition. But as happens in life, the gearbox blew and it cost more than the car was worth to fix it...and I wasn 't expecting to see the bailiffs again because I was consistant in paying off my debt...
  3. Just another quick question...they put a levy on my old BMW which was sold for scrap last year...can they just add another car instead. Also, the car I told rossendales about (renault) was paid for by my MIL, to whom I am paying 75.00 pm still, I have proof as it comes out of my bank direct to her...can he still put a levy on it as although I am the registered keeper, until the car is paid for in full I do not yet own it???
  4. Thankyou all again...I will post back when I get some headway(at the very least) but hopefully this will be resolved very soon xx
  5. Well I'll not let him in...he'll have to get past my large dogs first lol. I'll park car somewhere else and I will pay direct to council. I will also go to the council office on Monday and I'll not move until they sort this. I know I got myself into this debt, and I know I have to pay it (which I am doing), nothing will make me happier than to pay it off once and for all...and never have to deal with such awful people again. I just feel for those people that don't know about this website.....it is a scary situation to be in not having anyone to turn to....
  6. thanks for all the advice. We do rent, am in receipt of council tax/housing benefit. I don't earn much at all. I have 3 children, one under 5 11 and a 16 yr old autistic child, so only one of us can go out to work as someone needs to be home at all times.
  7. The council did help me with Rossendales when I first started dealing with them. They refused to allow me to pay £20 pm and the council stepped in and told them to accept the payments as I couldn't afford any more. My financial situation has not changed since then.
  8. Hi, I did contact the council today who informed me there was nothing they could do about it as the debt is with the bailiffs...even though I explained that i am up to date with payments. The bailiff also told me that the CAB would not be able to help me either and that i would be wasting my time. I asked him what he thought he could take and he said 'don't know until I come and look around...what car have you got?' so I told him Renault Scenic which i need for work (I am a self employed Caterer and I use it to ferry equiptment and ingredients for work) so you can't take that and he replied 'we'll see about that.' I didn't think they could take things you use for work and do I have to let him in??
  9. Sorry, what a donut:rolleyes:..yes it is council tax and it is for North Somerset Council.
  10. Hi there. I have an outstanding debt with Rossendales. It is basically 3 debts that I had agreed to pay off one after the other at £20 pm. All has been going well for the last 18 months and am up to date with payments. In January I tried to pay online but couldn't so phoned them direct to be told that I had paid off the first account and was given another ref no to pay into of which II did for the last 2 months Then I get a letter stating they want it paid if full as i has defaulted for 2 months on the date it should be paid (4th each month apparently) I had never agreed to pay on a certain date through all of this time as I explained I am self employed and payment doesn't come in on a certain date but will be paid by the end of each month which I did all on different dates and never heard a peep until now. Well he turned up, spoke to my husband, demanded payment in full , husband tried to explain that we were up to date with payments...he didn't care. There were 2 amounts..227 and 449.00. I asked if 449 was to clear the whole debt off and bailiff said yes. Tried Rossendales office to explain about the situation..they didn't care and tried the council...they didn't care. I managed to get a loan from my Mum for the amount 449.00 and rang to pay it off. He then informed me that I also owe the 227.00 as well...and I have until 16th march to pay it or else..blah blah, you know how it goes. I tried to explain there was no way i could afford it as I had borrowed all I could and could I please carry on installmants for the last 227.00 and he said no.(well he actually said f..k off..nice). Sorry for the ramble but my question is, as I am up to date with payments and have bank statements to prove varying dates who do I get in touch with to sort this out? I'm furious about it but don't know what to do...any ideas???? Thanks in advance x
  11. I we had been renting from a private landlord for 6 years. 6 months ago our landlord handed over the house to his wife (divorce settlement) She then put it in the hands of a letting agency. My question is..on the new agreement they are stating that we have no deposit (we do..£700)...apparently they can't find any information on our deposit. Also, they are saying they won't allow pets on the property... our dogs have been here as long as we have...do we have to get rid of them if we sign (obviously if that is the case I'm outta there) What are my rights regarding refusing to sign the new Tenancy Agreement.. Sorry if it reads rather muddled lol.
  12. Hi all, We have been renting our 3 bed property for nearly 7 years from a private landlord. We pay £700 pcm. After year 2 the heating never worked properly, 2 bedrooms never got heated. It is oil heated and very inefficiant. Our landlord was told of this but nothing happened. Subsequently, we have been heating the place with oil filled radiators that you plug in that cost us abot £300 in all to buy. The are very expensive to run. The house is constantly cold, and I have 3 children, one of whom is 13 months old. She wakes frequently in the night due to being cold so she sleeps in bed with my husband and I. The older kids have electric blankets so it isn't too bad for them. We had a kitchen fitted during the first 3 months of living here, but it is still not finished. The electrics are horrendous...I can't put the emmersion, tumble dryer/and/or washing machine on and boil the kettle at the same time as the whole house trips out. The carpets throughout are terrible...I can't wash them anymore as I'm creating bold paches where they are so old and warn and smelly euuugghhh(1970's at a guess) I can't let my daughter crawl about other than the front room which we recarpeted at our own expense. The tenancy was taken over by an agency 8 months ago (husband and wife divorced...she got this property, about 10 others and £50 million settlement..they are extemely weathy so it isn't because they can't afford it), who came round with promises of repair, but nothing has happened. We are now thinking of moving out. We don't really want to because we like where we live, and our neighbours are lovely and if they would put some time and money in it would be a lovely bungalow.. I suppose it is our own fault for not moaning enough, but we are worried that they will tell us to get out if we cause a fuss. We have ccj's and don't want to have to start all over aagin. Does anyone have any advice on how to make the landlords do some work to get this house into a livable condition??
  13. Hi Suprise, no I didn't get a receipt as I sent it in the post. I had a C sec birth so I couldn't do much at the time.(Drive, walk far) I haven't had the tax credit form back though as I do keep things like that together and the original document has definately not been returned. Just to add, I had no idea I was overpayed. The statement they have given me for the time period is confusing to say the least. Between December and July the amount changed 10 times even though I was only on Maternity allowance....how would I know it changed so often??? And how can they change if money coming in hadn't changed (other than WFTC) during those 8 months?? I had no notification of these changes of payment either.
  14. Hi, I have recieved a letter telling me I have been overpaid and now owe £1500 HB and £500 CTax..added to this year now they want £2300 Ctax paid in £185.00 pm installments which I can ill afford.. This was from 17 Dec last year to July, due to a change in my WFTC. Now, I went on Maternity Allowance in October and my daughter was born late Nov. I wrote and informed them of her birth. Then I contacted WFTC and told them. Within a few days of the letter arriving to tell me my payments were to go up due to baby, I sent it by post to the Council...there after I had a letter to say our HB had changed due to change of circumstances and baby was added. I never heard any more and assumed that I was being paid correctly. Now, they say I should pay this back as I KNEW I was being over paid. I did not. Now, I don't think I'm stupid, but the information sheets from the benefit dept are confusing to say the least, come in huge amounts of pages (the last being 27 pages long) our benefit seems to have changed month by month even though nothing has changed. I am now back at work, self employed and not earning very much (about the same pw before deductions as Maternity allowance) as having had time out I have to start again. Just a note to say this happened before about 2 years ago, I was overpayed because I apparently didn't give the information required (I did and had proof). I appealed but failed and had to pay it back. I didn't want to get into a situation like that again, so I always make sure I tell them about any changes within a month. I want to appeal again as I feel this is unfair, I told them this info as soon as I had it...any advice on which way to handle this???
