Hi pete, Just opened a basic account with Nationwide. Without overdraft or chequebook. Received cashcard with £300 limit. and allowed Direct Debits. took me 5 mins no questions asked and I probably have one of the worst credit records in the UK of anyone who is not bankrupt. hope this helps
