  1. Hi All, I'm a newbie on here so hope I'm posting in the right place....? Have recently arranged power of attorney for a great uncle and trying to get things in order for him. Doesn't have any idea what day it is let alone manage his finances. I've come across a Sun Life policy he has which he took out to pay his funeral costs. It was an Over 50 plan taken out in 1988. Quarterly payments are £12.00 (£48/year) with a guaranteed payout of £570 on his death. I think I've read somewhere in the policy that payments will automatically finish on his 90th birthday (March 2012). On this basis he has one more quarterly payment to make bringing the total amount he has paid into this policy in a 24 year period £1152. I have just received a statement from Sun Life (now part of Friends Life) reiterating that he will receive a guaranteed £570 on his death. As the title says, CAN THIS BE RIGHT?? Sounds as if it has been mis sold although he could have died 5 yrs after taking it out but I just can't believe this is acceptable. Any advice greatly appreciated.
  2. I'm a novice on this site so not sure where to post this, so apologies for hi jacking this thread. After the blow on bank charges being deemed fair etc etc I have given up hope on my reclaim of about £2500 from Lloyds TSB. We were one of the unlucky ones who had been given a court date which was due to be heard and then 6 days before the court hearing the whole job was put on hold. What i would like to know is...... Is there anyway I can get a refund on the court fee I paid about 3 years ago? Don't see why the courts should keep it as they never had any costs. Any advice appreciated and sorry for posting in the wrong place.
  3. Hi all, Have got to the point where Lloyds TSB have put in their defence for our court claim. LTSB solicitors have sent us a letter asking us to explain charges etc. and how we have come up with the total claim amount figure? When starting to print off spreadsheets listing charges etc I noticed that the amount I have entered on MCOL form is for £2 more than the charges actually add upto!!!!! Dont know why, must have been a typo when filling in the form....... Is this going to mean my case gets thrown out on a technicality? Or do i just admit to the error and continue. The total amount once the extra interest accumulated (since the claim date) has been added will be considerably more than £2. But just want to know have i blown it??? Help appreciated a.s.a.p as i only have a few days left beore they want a reply. Any help much appreciated thanks in advance Andy Mount - [email protected]
