Hi, If you're looking for contact details of Licit Legal you can contact [EDIT] The company has gone into liquidation since receiving so many complaints to the Ministry of Justice and other regulatory bodies. They are now claiming to be able to write off debts and are running under the name of First Step Legal Limted. I understand there has already been one complaint issued to Trading Standards after a client had paid them over £1,000 per month and First Step were only paying the creditors £1 per month. Apparently, no work was done on her case. They will tell you that all debts can be written off within 6 - 18 months. I've not heard of anyone who has had a debt written off by this company. Their website copies that of another debt advice agency. I would advise anyone who is contacted by these people to stay well clear.
  2. I used to work for the CAB and Law Centre. I had a number of complaints re. CCCS and Pay Plan, which are both funded by creditors. Firstly, they NEVER challenge debts and you could find yourself paying the debts forever more. Secondly, they have far too many clients and are unable to give you the attention you deserve. Specialist advice is a bit like accountants - they cost you money but in the long run you end up saving.
  3. I agree - CCCS and Pay Plan are both useless. Try EDITED, they will visit you at your home and take over everything, including challenging the debts if unenforceable.
  4. Hi, Does anyone actually check the agreements when they receive them. The majority of credit agreements are unenforceable, particularly if they are sub-prime loans secured on properties. Creditors very often add additional charges on for brokers fees and administration costs. These charges, because they are not optional, are a charge for credit and should be shown as such. They also form an additional part of the agreement, thus making the agreement a multiple agreement in which there should be two clear parts. The Consumer Credit Act is extremely complicated and most creditors get it wrong. If you are in receipt of your agreement, check to see if the insurance in included in the total charge for credit (if not genuinely optional) and that there are two parts to the agreement for other additional fees. There are agencies out there that can help [EDIT]
  5. I have a friend who has been told by a debt advice agency that a loan secured on her home is completely unenforceable because the creditor has added additional fees to her agreement that she had no choice but to accept. Apparently, most credit agreements are unenforceable. The agreement is a secured loan with Welcome Finance which she thought was only £16,000, but turns out to be £64,000. Apparently, because Welcome have put additional fees on the agreement without my friends authority, the whole document does not comply with the prescribed terms laid down in the CCA, therefore, the whole debt has to be written off. I will keep you informed of the outcome. The agency my friend is using is [EDIT] Do not post links to commercial companies. Please read the forum rules before posting on these forums.
  6. Thank you Redgemini. I'll let you know the outcome.
  7. A& L are refusing to send statements of my account because they say it is a loan, therefore, not covered under the DPA:evil:
