  1. Hi, It is interest that they didnt pay, that was worked out on the excel spreadsheet. So they returned my charges but not the interest. I know that I am not entitled to the debit interest. Have I explained that okay? Thanks

    Smile Charges

Hi there, Not really too sure exactly what info you are looking for but hopefully this little bit will help and anything your missing someone else might know. Firstly no matter what the circumstances are you can claim back any charges you have had from smile over the past six years and if you havent paid them and they are claiming them from you. A letter too them stealing some of the paragraphs from the LBA template stating there charges are unlawful etc and that for this reason you will not be paying them and you insist they stop these unlawful requests upon you I would have thought would stop them dead. As I did that over secure message for some charges prior to my big claim and they just cancelled them. As for egg there not really my speciality, I would hit that particular forum for any advice there. However I would say that its worth trying to claim back any charges from them on the normal route of doing it in writing as you are never going to get anywhere with the people over the phone. And if you are not covered by your insurance, I would try and claim your costs back as it has been useless to you. But again egg arent my speciality. Hope this helps, anything else just ask and I will try to help:-| Porcupine
  3. Hi there, I have just got around £1900 back from smile(guess whos smiling now) so here goes! Right, you need to add up the commission total and the Fees total and thats what your entitled too. If you go to the templates section and download the excel spreadsheet for charges you can then fill it in with both of these charges. Fees and Commission. The spreadsheet will then calculate contractual interest for you which you can also try and claim. You are not entitled to anything else. Then get the LBA template (first one) and fill it in and then send that off with your excel spreadsheet. It is a mundane task filling in the spreadsheet but worthwhile. Hope this helps. Any other questions let me know!
  4. Hi there, Smile are definitely the best people to start with as apart from occasionally being a bit petty (ie losing paperwork, forgetting to send it out etc) They are pretty straight forward but they do send you a sulky letter telling you they have given you your money grudgingly So dont worry two letters and about seven to 10 days after the second letter and you should have your money. I am trying to do Lloyds and I cant even get them to respond to the S.A.R let alone give me any money! Good Luck and dont worry!
  5. Hi there, Having sent off the LBA 1 & 2 I have had £1900 of the £2450 I was claiming returned. Whos smiling now! But what I want to ask is how many people have got the interest back? And is it worth sending them a part settlement letter and going in for the rest of it as I worked on the excel spreadsheet? Any advice appreciated and can anyone who got their interest back let me know how they went about it? Thanks
  6. Thanks for your feedback, much appreciated! I checked my secure message that they had recieved it and have been chasing them down within a few days a sending each letter. That was good advice! I sent my LBA for £2500 on the 6th Feb signed for by them on the 7th. So its just a waiting game at the moment. I have also sent my husbands S.A.R as well as we are both with smile. They will eventually be ready to defend so I just want to get ours through.
  7. Hi, This is just a quickie which is on behalf of my mum. Are business bank accounts claimable or do they come under a different arena. My mum had one with RBS and they charged her for anything and everything! Any info/advice much apprecciated. Thanks Porcupine:p
  8. Having sat and read lots of the threads, I have posted off my SAR, special delivery and it arrived on the 18th January at 5.42am! I have been with Smile for 6 years and there charges have been the bane of my life, I cant even imagine what my total figure will be. Quick question, do they have to acknowledge my request or is my special delivery signed for enough? Should I email them and check they have it or just wait the forty days? Any advice, greatly appreciated!
