  1. Hi all, I am looking for some advice if possible over an item I purchased using paypal that turned out to be counterfeit. I purchased what was advertised as a Sandisk high speed memory card on a web site and paid for it using paypal because of their protection for purchases as quoted: If you receive an item that is significantly not as described or you do not receive the item at all after a given period of time, you can file a dispute and escalate it to a claim." I received the memory card from the company except the memory card turned out to be a counterfeit. It is badged as Sandisk but is not manufactured by Sandisk at all. Sandisk have since confirmed it is fake and obviously won't honor the warranty. After testing the memory card alongside a 'real' sandisk the card is extremely slow and will not work correctly in my camera. I tried to contact the seller but got no response from them at all. I then raised a case with paypal over goods sold not as advertised, and to my suprise paypal closed the case without investigating it. Their statement said, "PayPal's Buyer Complaint Policy applies to the delivery of goods but not to disputes about merchandise quality." The questions I ask is "Should paypal be supporting the sale of counterfeit goods?" I looked into contesting paypal's decision to close the case by form of appeal, but the instructions supplied on the paypal site do not actually work in practice. The appeal button they quote does not exist in the dispute centre. I believe Paypal is governed by the financial ombudsman so do they hold the same responsibilites as the banks? Is there something I can do because I feel Paypal should hold some responsibility for retreiving monies paid for goods not as advertised. I appreciate any help with this, Many Thanks, Nigel
