  1. Hi I sent out my first letter regarding Statements for past 6 years using the template , with enclosed £10 fee. On 07/09/06 I received the microfiche reply as detailed here in the forums, but with no statements at all, just the letter. I have some bank statements from last year but they are far from complete, so i cannot estimate the size of my claim. Just for these sporadic statements alone i have found over £800.00 in charges. Am i correct that i should now send the letter for the non-compliance of the data protection act.?? An Interesting thing happened on friday. I Checked my bank account on-line and found £260 IN CHARGES for last month. I Phoned them with a different approach this time (I kept calm and didn't mention don corleone and the mafia ) I was given the usual waffle about charges , blah , blah , blah and told i could take it further and make an "appeal" and that they could return only £55 to me now. I told the person on the phone that i wouldn't bother with that "appeal" procedure and that i would make my claim by "another route". She asked me to hang on , she was gone ages , then returned and said " i've spoken to a diferent supervisor and i can return £210 in charges to your account" ...... !!!!! What a turn around... anyway...onward ..ever onward... So, back to my question ..... should I now send the letter for the non-compliance of the data protection act.?? Many Thanks

    Abbey address?

Thanks for the replies. I will be sending my request on monday and will create a file to keep track of all letters sent and recieved. This is not the first time abbey has charged us large amounts of money , this time it has been £265 in 8-9 small between £30 and £35. when the charges were taken it actually put us overdrawn again . I phoned the general enquiries number to ask about having some money returned , but just got a call center operator reading from a card , repeating the same sentance over and over again. The operator actually agreed that she thought the charges were excessive but would not agree to a partial refund. My customer complaining skills are not great and i ended up asking if the abbey was an italian bank and if it was run by Don corleone ! My wife aslo tried later in the day and recieved the same response. I'm not letting this go ,we will pursue this to the end.
