  1. Hello all, I've recently swapped my banking from HSBC to Co-Operative bank and have also swapped all my direct-debits for bills etc over to the co-op as well. I requested a loan of £5k from the co-op bank and even after appeal they have declined me saying that I havent been a customer for long enough and they are worried that I may finacially overburden myself despite bringing in approx £1.6k a month after tax and still having disposable income available after paying all my bills. What can I do next? Does anyone know of any other money lenders that I could use that have a decent interest rate, might accept me and wont rip me off? Ive tried people like Sainsburys etc in the past and they've declined me as well
  2. Result! PPI has been taken off my current loan after a meeting with the manager
  3. Got an appointment with my local branch manager this morning at 11am. Wish me luck...
  4. Update - received a letter from my local HSBC branch stating that they did not think I was missold the PPI but they are 'concerned that I have stated that they were not prepared to reschedule the loan without protection' and that I should arrange an appointment with the assistant manager to discuss this issue further. So what does 'reschedule the loan' mean? Is this garble to say they're going to remove the bloody PPI from my loan???
  5. Hello all, About 2 weeks ago I sent the template off to HSBC asking for a cancellation and refund of PPI that I no longer want or need and which is probably totalling about 10k in total. My local branch have phoned me up and said they will contact me soon, they have again reiterated the usual rubbish 'its impossible to cancel the insurance etc' and 'ill have to take out another loan etc'. I have informed the lady that I spoke to that unless this issue is sorted out I will close all my accounts with HSBC, I also informed her I would not be involved with any solution that will either disadvantage me or wind me in further debt. So in preparation for my next phonecall with them: 1. Are they likely to give in if i stand my ground and threaten to close my accounts?(im a 20+ year customer) 2. Will they just continue to spout crap at me, offer me the opportunity to take out another loan to start again? 3. What kind of facts/legal info do I need to know when im battling my corner with them over the phone? 4. If this isnt resolved and I then go onto close my accounts, am I likely to win via the financial ombudsman? I feel I was missold the insurance and believed i could cancel it at any time. I also feel I was preyed upon by them during a period due to financial issues that I was quite vunerable... Kind regards, Debtcollector
  6. Ive just sent the above template to HSBC in the hope of cancelling circa £8 grands worth of ppi over an 8 year period. Im only 9 months into the loan. Will keep you updated...
  7. Hello again In february this year, I took out a large 23k loan to consolidate my credit card, various overdrafts and to pay off an outstanding 10k loan I already had. I was a bit low and desperate at the time and basically got sold HSBC loan payment protection at the same time, hiking the overall loan to over 30k I know by law I can cancel this payment protection after an initial 30 day period, but Ive recently contacted my local branch in regards to cancelling the payment protection and they have told me they cannot cancel it and I will have to take another loan out without payment protection to pay off the loan with payment protection This will of course disadvantage me even further... Is there anything I can do to cancel the payment protection and not disadvantage me with further debt etc? Your help will be gratefully appreciated!!!
  8. Nah, Ive just collected a few debts for myself to pay off over the years!!
  9. Thanks for the input guys - i find this most reassuring
  10. Hello, I might be considering a fresh mortgage application within the next 18 months but im concerned outstanding debt may lower the chances of me getting a mortgage? My situation is that I currently owe circa 30k in a bank loan and about 1k on a credit card. I have never had any CCJs, never had any late payments in my history and generally have paid everything I owe on time. I also have a small car finance loan that I pay off each month on time... So in light of this, will the fact that me still oweing 30k in debt hamper me from getting a mortgage?
