  1. I got into financial difficulties whilst awaiting a heart bypass operation. Although I did inform the bank, I was not exactly focused on the day to day running of the account. I had a loss of income whilst I was very ill and eventually they precipitated matters and closed the account. I also had a managed loan which meant that I was charged in connection with the defaults on that as well when the funds were not able to be paid from the chequeing account. Now that I have had a successful op and am completely recovered healthwise, I am wanting to recover these unfair and exploitative charges. BUT - HSBC in the meantime, closed the account and sold the debt. I have paid a few payments after coming to (what I view to be interim) an arrangement for the monies owed to HSBC, a large proportion of which, are penalty charges. I think (I haven't finalised the details yet) I have been unduely charged about £4500+. Where do I stand now that the debt has been sold off to this collection agency? What will HSBC's position be now that I am no longer a customer? How do I proceed?
  2. Hi, I am really glad I stumbled across this site. I had some ill health and had not made some loan repyments. Whilst I was ill I neglected the associated account. The bank kept on adding charges. Eventually, the account was suddenly closed and I found myself dealing with a harassing collection agency, who call even when asked not to - whilst I recover from an operation. I intend to try to reduce any uneccessary charges but not to avoid paying the amount still owed for the loan. Other experiences will be useful and an inspiration here. JOEL21
