  2. An update - With my other account, I got a reply as promised by them today, which is actually pretty quick all things considered. Anyway, they've given me the usual "our charges are fair" speech but offered me £185 for apparently being an "exceptional case"! I wonder how many other cases are exceptional! However, my claim is for a little over £400, so this falls far short of what I'm trying to reclaim. I've heard on here people advise to accept their offer as a part payment and then continue proceedings to get the rest, but how exactly do I do that? They've enclosed a form for me to sign that says it's the full and final end to the matter. If I don't sign that, but send another letter, will they still send the part payment in a cheque or do I have to wait until later down the line? Hope someone can help! Thanks!
  3. Hi, Thanks for your reply. That does make sense, as the leftover money above the credit limit (so not what they let me "borrow") wouldn't be part of it, unless they somehow claim it is part of what they are letting me borrow? They've also refunded me a bit for the Payment Protection insurance refund blunder thing that they've had to do, so not doing too bad with Capital One, if only Natwest were the same! Thanks for your help!
  4. I recently sent my prelim letter to Capital One requesting the refund of my late payment and overlimit fees from them. Today I received a letter back from them, saying that they were prepared to refund £220 out of the £300 I had asked for as a goodwill gesture, which would result in the charges all being altered to £12 rather than the £20 that I had been charged. Just a question, if I accepted this, they have said that it would be added to my account balance, and in this particular case, it would mean that my total debt to them would be wiped clean, but the account would also have around £90 on top of the balance available which if I used, I'd have to pay back. So what I'm asking is would it be possible for me to request a cheque or is there something obvious I'm not understanding?! Thanks for your help.
  5. Ok, thanks, I'll put that into the letter to them. With the other account, yes it's the same thing with bank charges, and yes I did enclose a list of the charges. I would have thought the bank could have pretty much instantly looked up the account, but there you go! If I don't hear back, I'll follow that one up. Thanks for your help.
  6. Ah I see, I thought so, but the wording in the template was wrote as if they hadn't replied, when they had done. I've also got another reply from them about a separate account saying that they have requested copy statements for my account so that they can look into my claim, is this a normal stalling tactic?

I've sent the standard letter to Natwest requesting the refund of the bank charges and have received a reply from Mr Higley saying that they feel their charges are fair etc which I have read before (word by word) with other cases on this forum. Just wanted to check, do I now start the moneyclaim procedure as I was a bit confused in the Step by Step instructions? Thanks.

  9. Just a quick question, I'm about to start action against Natwest and have some items on my statements called Unarranged Borrowing Fees at £28.00 each, which I believe are the same as Overlimit fees, can I still claim for these? Thanks!

  11. Hi, I'm about to start proceedings against Natwest for unfair bank charges. I used to have both a personal and business current account with them, that were both given quite a few £30 charges over time. I also have (still active) a Natwest Business Mastercard, which was originally set up with direct debit, so when I missed a payment, it would charge £30 to the bank account, and £40 to the card for both late payment and overlimit fees. I've seen how people have claimed back money so far on their personal accounts, so would the same apply to business accounts? Also, by taking Natwest on, can this affect my credit rating or future ability to open a bank account elsewhere? Thanks!
