  1. no problem elaine, yes have done that thank you
  2. Hiya all Just looking for a bit of advice. Have gone over my overdraft (bank keep taking charges!) and now they want payment of the amount that I am over by. I can't really afford to pay the whole amount or I would. Anyway, to cut a (very!) long story short - the Halifax have been ringing me every day, and sometimes night, for just over a week to ask for payment. To me this is harrassment as I have told them that I am skint and I have no idea when I will be able to make a payment. They said that if i don't pay all of it they will keep charging my account. Aaargh! I am so sick of the Halifax!! Any suggestions as to what I should do? I remember seeing something written about getting harrassed by creditors/banks on one of these threads but can't remember what it said. What do you think is the best thing I can do besides give them the money and not be able to pay rent, council tax etc? Surely they are not allowed to phone you every day?? Any advice, as always, very much appreciated
  3. Hi all Just a quick update. Recieved my bank statements from HBOS today and i'm currently sifting through them to find out how much they owe me. Looks like it'll be about £600.00. I'm waiting to see how I get on then I am going to do the same for hubby's account. I'm a bit worried about that one though because it's going to need to be severed into 2 or 3 claims. Don't suppose that matters really does it? But it is worrying me for some strange reason. Anyway that's all the info I have for you at present so it's on to the next stage. Here we go..... Any advice/words of encouragment greatly appreciated!! I am worrying like mad that they will use me as a guinae pig and will take me to court and win!
  4. Heard on my local radio news at ten tonight: Halifax/Bank Of Scotland are giving their staff shares in the company (5% of their annual salary) after recording massive profits in the first half of this year... That's our money and they are using it to give their staff shares in the company! :o Barstewards!!!!!! They won't be able to once all the disgruntled HBOS customers are done claiming back their illegal charges Did anybody else hear about this?
  5. Am really not qualified to answer that question - only recently joined myself but have to say i agree with mumof3boys on this one
  6. Hi sorry just got back from work. I didn't realise we scottish people could only claim 5 years either - never mind - will still be a hefty sum...
  7. Hi mumofthreeboys I've got a boy and a girl and i'm only just surviving the holidays - how are you coping? Just to clear up the matter i live in scotland so can only claim for 5 years unfortunately but thank you so much for replying to me. It's nice to know there is always someone here to help... unlike the bank LOL
  8. Hi all Well have been here for a few days now and been getting my head round all the information (Great site guys!) and now feel ready to take on the bigwigs at the Halifax. I have had an account with them for the last 7 years - pity i can only claim 5 years back but hey ho! Went into my bank today to ask them about a direct debit that came out when it shouldn't have (as i had cancelled it!) - got the usual "we dinnae have a scoobie what's happened but when we do find out that it was our fault we will blame you anyway and charge you". Charming people they are - don't know how i will ever manage without them... Asked the guy to have a look at my charges for one month and they were £329 OMG! (terrible account managment on my part i know before anyone has a go!) Imagine what they owe me for 5 years worth!!!! I've sent of my DPA letter with £10 postal order made out to Halifax PLC (Hope thats right!) so now the wait begins. Let's see what happens...
  9. Sorry to be a pain again people. Was wondering where the best place is to send Data Protection Act letter for my statements? Would my local branch accept it? Just got off the phone to the most "helpful" employee who wouldn't give me an address or name of someone to send them to. Hope she can sleep at night! Also, do i make out the postal order for £10 in the name of the branch manager or Halifax PLC or is it something else? Sorry for all the questions - i'm trying to get my head round things (school holidays - not easy to concentrate!). Read a thread by someone not long ago by someone (think his name is johnny2 - sorry if i've got it wrong) but can't find it again. Does anyone know where i can find it? Would really like to know how he got on? Thanks in advance for your help with these questions:)
  10. does this mean that i can only claim for £750 of charges? Rough estimate at moment near on £2000!
  11. Hi all I have been reading a few of the posts here with great interest but can't seem to find an answer to this so if someone can help me then please do. I have been with the Halifax for 6 years and my husband has been with them (seperate account) for 14 years. We have moved accounts just recently to a different bank and now only have a basic account (no overdraft etc). There is now no money going into our Halifax accounts so basically my question is this: Can we still claim our charges even though we are not paying anything into the accounts? Also we live in Scotland so i was wondering if we can still claim for 6 years of charges or if the Scottish law on this is different? Also one quick question - don't mean to sound daft but where is the template library that i have seen a few people typing about on here? I know it is probably staring me in the face so don't laugh please!!
