  1. What with one thing or another, I have not had the chance to send the 2nd letter out to the good folks at HSBC. I have done it today! I am also starting at stage one again on a second account (joint account - again at HSBC!)
  2. sorry - didnt realise that there was a response to my query. There was no information at all on the manual intervention charges, and is not clear on the site - they all look like standard charges. I will send the next letter out then...
  3. I have finally received all bank statements (not a breakdown of the charges!) so I will be going through each and every statement, and working out what the charges have been over the last 6 years! The good news is that they returned my £10 cheque!! Can someone please just confirm - I am able to claim back ALL bank charges? The letter I received ahead of my statements from the bank said that some of these charges were due to manual intervention. The letter didnt say anymore than that - so I would assume that I can continue to chase ALL charges? Thanks
  4. well done! Fingers crossed I will get just as good a result!
  5. that's really cool! (Dont think that would suit me though - wrong boddy shape!! Though give me 20 years, and perhaps I will have man-boobs, who knows!) lol
  6. good!! BTW, is that a serious comment on your CAG t-shirt?! If it is, would love to see pics of that! Also could be an idea to get the local paper involved, get some free PR for CAG!
  7. thanks for the good luck! I heard that if you try and claim on the same account twice (or more) then they are more likely to close your account...? You may want to be careful of that, or look for an alternative bank first.
  8. Just read your experiences with HSBC with interest. I hope that you get your money in full... good luck! I have all of this to look forward to!
  9. Thanks Riflez. Good luck with your claim. It's good that there are people who are going through the same as you, and good that there are people just a step or two ahead as well. I too think that I am owed quite a lot on this account over the 5 years...so fingers crossed!! Much needed money back in my pocket!
  10. mmm.. that may be a problem, as I have two business accounts with HSBC as well, and I dont want them to close these two accounts. We shall see. But thanks for the advice. (I know that I have definately suffered a lot of bank charges on one of them!) I also have a joint account with HSBC - again lots and lots of charges there. On top of that, I have charges on my personal account with Lloyds TSB, and have a bank account running alongside the mortgage account with Woolwich (though dont think that one is too bad). I will give this one a go first, see how this fight goes, and then when I have leant how it all works will more than likely proceed with the others. I will keep this board notified of what is happening...
  11. I dont have internet banking for my personal account. I never have done for personal accounts - just business accounts. The other thing is that this particular account is a closed one (has been for about 6 months). One thing that I have just wondered - if I get x amount for all the bank charges for another account (I am doing one account at a time - to see how it goes!) that is currently active, and then after claim has been paid, I suffer more charges, then can I claim again for the same account? (obviously different time period)
  12. perhaps, though I did read somewhere on the site that you wouldnt need to. Still I guess it would have been best to be sure. I assume that I can still send second letter if I dont receive a response to this letter?
  13. Hi everyone, I am new to this, I have spent days browsing through the site and looking at the FAQ's and other threads, and i think that I ready to start attack! The date today is 11th August, and I have sent an S.A.R - (Subject Access Request) letter to HSBC, sent to The Data Protection Manager, HSBC Bank PLC, 8 Canada Square, London, E14 5HQ. I hope (and think) that this is the correct person to address to? I wasnt too sure who to make the cheque payable to, so sent the £10 cheque made out to HSBC Bank PLC. I hope that this is correct. I have sent this second class, and will hopefully get something within the next 40 days. As soon as the 40 days come, or I get a response (whichever comes first), I will keep this thread posted. If anyone has any advise in the meantime, please feel free to post! Gareth

  15. ok, thats great - thanks for the advice. G
  16. just out of interest, would it be better to request information on multiple accounts from the same bank at the same time, or just do one at a time? For example... I have a joint account with HSBC - loads of charges!! This is still active, and we are getting in worse state every month I used to have a personal account with HSBC, unsure of the charges on this I also currently have a sole-trader account from an old business with HSBC and over the last 3-4 years, suffered loads of charges. I have a business loan linked in with this account... and so wouldnt really want to rock the boat with that, as unsure how easy I would find it getting another loan to replace this one. The worrying thing also is that I have recently set up a new company, and have a new Ltd company bank account, also with HSBC, and again i dont really want to affect this. The questions are, I guess... would it be best to go for the joint and my old closed personal account at the same time, or one at a time? would claiming the charges back on the sole-trader account affect the loan I currently hold? would anything i do with HSBC affect the Ltd company bank account, as technically I am an employee of the company, and no longer a sole-trader?! Last of all, if I am sending an SAR for 2 or more accounts, would the cost be £10 per account, or £10 total? Sorry for rambling, and looking forward to responses! G
  17. Thank you closey. I certainly will do. I am having a bit of trouble finding my way around the site - in particular the letter's library. I expect I am just being blind!
  18. Hi there, I am new here, and a little apprehensive about trying to get my monies off such large organisations! This site is a great idea, and hope to be picking your brains along the way. Just as a quick note on me... My name is Gareth, I am a 26 year old business owner. Unfortunately, as the business is quite small, I am slightly reliant on when my clients pay me! This has caused major financial headaches in the past, so it doesnt help when the banks like to twist the knife! If anyone has any advice, then I would appreciate anything. So far, I have browsed through some of the threads on this site... makes some interesting reading! G
