  1. would like to add i havent paid it because I cant afford to and its now gone up to £150 and with the threat of taking me to court.
  2. Hi I was parked outside my daughters school, the duration roughly 3-6minutes as I was just dropping her off. I parked on the pavement, because if you dont, oncoming traffic can not pass, so not wanting to be inconsiderate, I parked very briefly on the curb. About a month later I receive a fine through the post, telling me I had been caught parking on the pavement and the fine will be £100. Now after investigation I found out that it was an NCP smartcar with a camera on its roof that took the photo of me parking on the pavement, i was not informed at the time. The fine is on behalf of richmond borough council. Is this right, should they have issued me with a ticket or something, and as I say I was only parked there for a matter of minutes. many thanks in advance debbie
  3. Also, although I explained I was not the person he was looking for, was he allowed to give me all that information, surely that is private? The bailiffs by the way was Drakes.
  4. Was at my sisters house yesterday, (my sister had popped out), when the doorbell rang, I answered it and was told the guy standing at the door was a bailiff. Told him I wasnt my sister (who he had asked for), yet he still proceeded to tell me he was there on behalf of Richmond Borough Council, who had taken my sister to court because her daughter had too many absences at school (a problem which my sister eventually managed to sort out). Anyway the court issued a £100 fine, which she couldnt pay at the time and eventually (stupidly) forgot about. Then in march she received a letter from Bailiffs saying to pay £250 (again couldnt pay) or they would come around. that was the last she heard of it until they turned up 3 months later, yesterday. To cut a long story short, he wasnt going to leave, told him to come back when she was there, the fine by the way is now £350, so she could arrange payment. However, this was not good enough and saw her car sitting in the drive and he said he was gonna take that right there and then and would get the police down to witness it. I at this stage panicked, as she needs the car for work and Ironically to get the kids to school (which is what she was fined for anyway, there is irony there somewhere) and paid her bill with my own credit card, which they then had a nerve to charge me a 3% fee on, at that he left. I couldnt get hold of my sister at the time to ask questions. Now, I know she was stupid to ignore the letter from the bailiffs but she did, think she hoped they would go away. Anyway, could they have taken the car? and can they add £250 to a £100 debt, and finally is there anything she can do to get a refund on those terrible charges. Many thanks for any help, these people are ruthless.
  5. must admit didnt realise you could do that tony, that was the deciding factor, but too late, sent the letter off, could do with the cash. Thanks saintly and tony
  6. it was £4455 with interest, think without it it was £3880. It worked out that I got 75%.
  7. Claimed £3880 Won £2910 Accepting the offer as its not bad as I hadnt even submitted a claim online, that was just with my 2nd letter threatening it, its 75% of my claim which I am happy with. Many thanks all for your help
  8. Well Barclays were true to their word and they did stick to their deadline and Offered me £2910 which is 75% of my claim, which isnt bad considering I didnt even submit a court claim in the end because MCOL didnt except electron so I couldnt, but no need now anyway because I am going to accept it as £2910 is a lot more than I had yesterday. Many thanks for everyones help
  9. Many thanks for the Info Dar£n
  10. Out of interest for those that have also had this letter stating that they were looking into it and would reply by 18th June, or whatever date, did they then stick to their own deadline and with what response? Would be interested to know what happened to your claim after receiving this letter?
  11. Got another Letter now from Barclays stating that they were looking into my claim and would have a response by the 18th June, there deadline was up 1st May but I was away on holiday and so didnt file an online claim, however I am now back from holiday and thought 18th June was unacceptable so went to file an online claim and couldnt cos they dont take Electron Cards, which is all I have, so now looks like I am gonna have to wait until the 18th to see what little gem barclays come up with. Can use another family members card but will wait now and just see. Thats the update so far.
  12. Hi, well today finally I have received a response after the 2nd letter requesting they pay bank charges and threatening to take them to court, by the way the deadline would of been up on the 1st may. The letter just was the standard apology letter saying they would look in to my complaint and would take up to 8 weeks. Shame they only have until Tuesday when I push that little button on MCOL submitting my court case isnt it
  13. Many thanks for that oneofakind. Much appreciated
  14. Hi Recieved statements from Barclays in record time, about a week I think, so I thought that was pretty good going, then sent first letter requesting they pay my money back (£4455), that was 3 weeks ago with no response at all, they seem to go from one extreme to the other! Anyway today I have sent 2nd letter threatening to take them to court and allowing another 14 days from todays date, so watch this space hopefully might get some joy now. Many thanks for all the helpful advice that is given in this forum. Best wishes Debbie
  15. Hi Welsman and thanks for that, not in arrears with the payments, didnt think they would but didnt want to get a surprise when then paid out £5k and then asked for £12k back!! Many thanks
  16. Sorry originally posted this in the wrong thread, sorry to the person whose thread it was. Now making another attempt to do this correctly. I have tried to delete other post but unable to, maybe someone else can? Here goes. Hello everybody, new here, first post and quite frankly haven't a clue what I am doing, this is probably in the wrong place so apologiess if thats the case, but I bank with Barclays and so this seemed a good place to start. Ok have over £5000 pounds in bank charges and interest over the passed 6 years which I am now toying over the idea of contesting, but one thing does worry me, I have heard that Barclays may well close my account, now this in its self is not the problem what I am worried about is I have a Barclayloan for over £12000 with them although it is a different account number, although a £1000 of that was to pay off my overdraft on the account I am now claiming on, will they make me pay that back in full if I go ahead with my claim? I have banked with Barclays for over 20 years, does this make a difference as to whether they will close my account. See I told you I have no idea. Many thanks in advance Debbie
