You're right - it's a word for word lifting from the MSE article...however, they appear to make it all a statement of fact without the rider that people should seek qualified advice...
I can imagine a lot of people responding to this programme without thinking through the repercussions...still, if they are directed here they will get a good ear...

Application made (7 days to find out...)
An interesting point to note: during the process there were questions regarding arranging an overdraft. It stated that there was an 'overdraft arrangement fee' of 1% of the overdraft (minimum £15). I take this to mean that if I go over the limit, it will cost £15 to 'rearrange' my overdraft.
Could this be the £15 mooted elsewhere on the boards that the OFT would consider imposing as 'fair?' If so, it certainly beats the £25/30/35 charged by other banks, and whilst not reflecting 'true' costs, is certainly more bearable.

I was considering opening an account with them (something I have mooted for many years but never had a compelling reason for...until now)
That said, they have maintained an aura of being an ethical bank over the years, and they are certainly 'socially aware' - will investigate.
Thanks.

Hi,
Much is made that it would be prudent to open another account in case the bank you are claiming from decide to play rough. This is sound advice. Is/are there any banks that are exempt from making these outrageous charges - i.e. are there any banks that no-one is claiming against, because their charges are 'reasonable'?

That sounds about right - interesting to note that someone mentions charges in the context of terms and conditions. As mentioned elsewhere, the Ts & Cs are only legally enforcable if the law decides that is the case...

Aaahh - I'm new here, so didn't put 2 and 2 together. Nevertheless, the fact that it is starting to get national coverage can only be a good thing...

Hi,
This is not strictly a Lloyds thread, but the thread continues onto Lloyds...this appeared on Sky News yesterday:
http://www.sky.com/skynews/xml/article/0,,91070-1142357340,00.html
Interestingly he only complained about a £32 charge and ended up with £5,000
Additionally I have just heard on the radio of an accountant winning the right to send the bailiffs into the bank to recover charges (although I think this was Lloyds TSB)...more to follow

Hi Bank Fodder,
Clearly the forum is moderated as my previous two posts have now disappeared.
I can fully understand and accept the customs, and your explanation that some threads are effectively two-way conversations clarifies a point and is understandable.
In the future I will create my own threads whenever I wish to post, and will refrain from replying to other threads, even when my reply would be clearly relevant, as I believed to be the case here. I do not wish to see huge, bold, red comments again.
Regards,
Adam.

PLEASE START YOUR OWN THREAD, YOU'RE HIJACKING SOMEONES ELSE'S.
Hi,
Following the exposure of Bank Action Group through the MSE site this week, I have decided to give it a go myself.
I am an HSBC customer, Adam.

We'd like to buy some law books - would you like to help?

As the amount you are asking for is quite small, have you considered opening a PayPal account? That way the money gets to you speedily, and you can (usually) spend it where you wish.
My own view is that when I win, I would like to make a %age contribution so that the group will be able to help others. Clearly the money itself would not be viable, so I will ask for a list of books required at the time, and will personally go out and get them for you (within reason of course...)
