  1. hi all, I sent the 1st letter(requesting repayment of 499) 10 days ago to Halifax on behalf of my partner, and yes you,ve guessed it a letter from them today offering 300 as full and final payment, my partner wants to settle and i,m trying to talk him round to not doing as he,s entitled to 499 not 300!!! in a bit of a pickle now. Quite suprised how quick the reply was with the offer, nothing like the ABBEY. I,ll keep u posted on the outcome. Nicky
  2. Hi Jean, I was in similar position a few weeks ago, I basically told them that my account was in dispute pending the outcome of charges accrued on my overdrawn balance, I stuck to MY timetable and sent LBA letter and a few days after they recieved it I had a gesture of good will paid into my account which then brought my balance back, under OD limit. Don,t let them tell you that you are in the wrong as it,s them thats caused this with the unlawful charges!! Hope this helps you. Nicky.
  3. HI THERE, welcome to the abbey forum, all i can say is keep reading and gathering as much info as you can, be careful as it,s addictive!!! Any hurdle you come to at any stage will be overcome as some-one always helps you out as i,ve found on here. good luck!!
  4. thanks Glenn Uk, will do that. I actually phoned as well today to discuss the letter recieved from them, and just got basically 'bog off thats all we are refunding' answer. So then I just reminded them they have till monday until i file a claim against them. Which one shall i use? MCOL or N1? Is there any difference between them or just on-line one is easier to track? thanks.
  5. hi there,Just need to dicuss this with someone please. Firstly- I sent my LBA last Monday giving them till next monday to respond. A couple of days after they recieved this lba letter I recieved a GOGW of 818 pounds into my account, thus bringing my account back into credit. When I arrived home that day I had a letter from Abbey complaints dept, regarding the investigation into my 'complaint', they also state thay are happy to refund 818 pounds for the period 1st oct 2005 to present date(18 sept 06) as a GOGW. I have checked the charges taken from my account in this period stated and they actually total more than 1540 pounds!! a differrence of 722 pounds!! Either Abbey cannot add up correctly or they just think I,m totally thick, and i will just accept this and go away, not likely!! What I was wondering is do you think I should pester the complaints dept regarding this incorrect amount or just ignore and proceed with the MCOL next monday. Any feedback on this would be appreciated!! Thanks!
  6. thanks lula, I think i will double check the amount matches what they say the refunds from oct 05 actually are and like you say when i do the mcol deduct amount off the total amount claimed? correct? As for the other 3 years worth of charges I am still waiting for statements!! requested in july and only got 13 months sent, am i right in thinking i have to wait for this one to be settled before i can claim others with abbey?
  7. hi there, Just to let you know I sent my lba last monday, and i thought i,d just check my balance as I strolled past the scabby today and low and behold yes they seem to have refunded my balance with yes you guessed it 800!!! Thus now bringing my balance into the overdraft limit so basically can,t spend any of it anyway! My overdraft was 1500 and at its max, then they took further charges in July, aug and sept taking it to over overdraft limit by 600 so obviously more charges because of their charges anyway!! I did phone them several times to discuss my account and said it was in dispute, as I now have parachute account set up and no funds going into abbey account, I then came home from work to find a lovely letter from scabby complaints dept ....usual rubbish but stating that as a 'gesture of goodwill' they are happy to refund 800 from oct05 to present day, (I will just check this matches my calculations later). Also at the end of letter it says they would be happy to help in anything needed long term financially or advice. (HOW KIND!!! i just want my whole charges back thankyou!) I also noted that the letter was hand signed by a Dominic Mussell 'Senior Customer Resolution Manager' has anyone else had this???
  8. Hi Claire. Its 40 days including weekends, but you can prepare your next letter whilst waiting , and if you have any bank statements already start listing the charges applied as I did and found I had 3 years worth totalling 3500!! so this is part of my 1st claim. and keep reading through everyones threads on Abbey, it really is interesting, Good luck , everyone on here helps you so don,t despair ok. Nicky.
  9. hi ayzi, good news for you! Just wondering how far down the reclaiming stage are you with the Abbey? Be nice if they did that for the rest of us, it seems they work so unpredictively........
  10. Hi there, could anyone advise me on how to list schedule of charges when sending the letter to ask for repayment of charges as i think i,ve just listed each month as total chargesxxxxxxxxxx and total interst chargedxxxxxxxx( not the 8% as i know this is when you get to claim part) instead of each individual item for the month, it is going to affect anything as i,ve sent it already.?? many thanks x
  11. hi, i,m about a week to go before the 40 day deadline is up, but keep reading thru FAQ as this helps you so much, you can estimate the charges based on the 12 months worth you have so keep at it and it will be worthwhile , good luck!!!
  12. hi there, just to let you know, i,ve just finished surfing through the last 3 years of statements with abbey which i kept safely filed away!! my saying is you never know if you need these for future reference and yes the time has come!! I sent the sub acc request letter to abbey about a week ago for the other 3 years and yes i got the same response as everyone else they only sent me 1 months worth of transactions, how kind!! My total amount of charges just for 3 years is 3172.00 which is shocking. As soon as i get the rest of transactions i can get to work on the spreadsheet, Would anyone be able to advise me on whether to do this in two claims or wait and do it as one? many thanks.
  13. Hello everyone, i,m a bit nervous about this as it,s all new to me, i,m hoping i can get hundreds of bank charges back from my bank, fingers crossed!!
