  1. At last I have bitten the bullet and decided on action.I have received copies of past statements as the first step of the procedure and am trying to work out what i can and can't claim for. The easy bit is the charges for card misuse, I've highlighted these and added them up to approx £1800. The difficult bit is the other charges ,e.g. for Oct2006 they have withdrawn £21.76 which is interest to 9th Oct on account no ----------as well as charge to 9th Oct on the same account for £28.There is also a referral charge for Oct for £30 For Aug 2006 they have withdrawn £20.63 which is interest to 9th Aug as well as charge to 9th Aug of £28. This is on an interest paying current account. My statements are full of these charges. I am confused about whether i can claim for 1./ the interest withdrawn, 2./the charge on the account (which at the moment appears to be £28 per month and 3./the referral charge. The fact is these charges are what have put me into the level of debt I am in. One or two small amounts over the agreed overdraft have crippled me and put me into a spiral which I can't get out of like most others who are trying to reclaim these charges. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. Already stumbling. Unsure where to send my request asking for details from past bank statements so I can begin my claim. Tried to find out by putting in details of bank into the search database, got nowhere. Can I write directly to the bank for copies of past statements or does my request need to go to the Data Controller for my bank, the details of which I cannot find.
  3. I've run into a problem already. Have been trying to find out where to send my request for a copy of past bank statements. I'm with the Royal Bank of Scotland. Put details of bank name and address etc into search database and it came up with nothing. Do I send the request to the actual bank where my account is held asking for a copy of back statements or does it need to go to the Data Controller for the bank:confused:
  4. thankyou for the advice. I'm prepared to put in the time to try to sort this out as I'm fed up being charged huge amounts for bouncing cheques. I know it's wrong but proportionately the penalty is gross. It appears to penalise lower wage earners who then end up in a cycle of debt they cannot get out of. I am speaking from personal experience. The bit I am worried about is trying to calculate what I may be due back as I am not strong on numeracy.
  5. I know this is not a new thread but I've just signed up as a new member to find info on illegal bank charging. Lately I've been trying to work extra hours to try to make ends meet but any extra cash is being eaten up in charges. It's like working to keep their shareholders happy.
