Hi, can anybody offer advice on the following. My partner has received a PCN from Ealing Council for '47J Stopped on a restricted bus stop/stand'. This took place on 13th August 08, the PCN is dated 15th October. As it's over two months ago, my partner cant really remember what happened. The CCTV photos appear to show him stopped there for 5 seconds. Does anyone know if councils are supposed to inform you of a contravention within a certain number of days? If they make a habit of doing this, it is obvious anyone's memory would become sketchy and so they just pay up! Also this happened 4 days after a family bereavement, and it could have been anyone of another 3 family members, as they were using the car to run around to make arrangements. Be grateful for any advice please.

Hi, i have just received a letter from Crapital One offering me the usual settlement, reduction down to £12 for each charge. this letter was sent to me 13 days after i had sent the first approach for repayment letter. Do i now send the Rejection of Settlement Offer letter, or the Letter Before Action or an amalgamation of the two? Also when sending this with another copy of the charges, should i add the standard 8% interest or wait until i have to make a claim through the courts to add this? Please advise!! Thank you.

Hi, my partner has just received letter from Sols offering full settlement of £1600 from HSBC. He has a managed loan with them, just wanted to find out if they could insist on using the refund to pay off some of the loan? The loan account has been paid promptly every month. We're not sure if they absolutely have to refund the money back into the account they took it from? Thanks
