  1. Hi pauldean, I'm keeping a close eye on your thread as my hubby and I both have claims in with Barclays at Ipswich CC. We've handed in our AQs and now waiting for court dates. Good Luck and keep us posted.
  2. Thanks NWSM. Your posts have been a godsend, especially making sense of the breakdown of fees and AG fees. AB
  3. Oh sod it!! Thanks Argyle, you've given me the kick up the bum I needed. Claim entered on Moneyclaim 5 mins ago HB
  4. I feel like such an idiot. I read up as much as I could before I even started so I wouldn't ask stupid questions and I've already done it!!! I think my blinkers must have been down. Looks like I can actually only claim £80, so Barclays offer of £100 is too much of a gift horse. Thanks for your help. I'll be donating my 5% as soon as the cash comes through. HB
  5. Another question..... I've been reading through some posts trying to find info and have realised that I might be claiming for more than the 6 years. When does the 6 years start? Someone has suggested from date of your prelim letter, in which case I should be claiming from August 2000 but I've claimed from Feb 2000. If it should be Aug then Barclays have offered me the right money £100!! Can anyone help? HB
  6. Hi, I have a question. When using Moneyclaim if I want to claim for daily interest as well as the 8%, how do I work out what that is? I've seen it on someone else's posts but can't remember who. Thanks HB
  7. Thanks, I'll do it now. I'm so excited. HB
  8. Hi everyone, I'm really looking forward to getting some money back from Barclays, it's about time the banks and credit card companies started paying back what they've unlawfully taken from us. Thanks to everyone involved with the setting up of this site it's FAB. The story so far.... 10/7/06 SAR letter sent 17/7/06 response from Peter Townsend, Manager, Data Protection 18/8/06 statements received 22/8/06 Prelim letter sent - request for repayment of charges £205 24/8/06 response from Mike Brophy, Head of Customer Relations 08/9/06 LBA sent 16/9/06 response from Laurence White, Customer Relations Manager offering £100 19/9/06 Rejection of settlement letter 21/9/06 response from Jackie Walter, Customer Relations Manager again offering only £100....if you want your money take us to court (or words to that effect!) I'm biting at the bit to start a Moneyclaim but don't know if I have to wait until the end of the 7 day deadline I gave on my last letter, which will be 26/9/06, or as they've already replied to that letter already can I go ahead and start it now?????? I'd be grateful if someone can let me know, or if they've been in a similar position. Many thanks HB
  9. Hi everyone, This is my first post although I've been in the background keeping an eye on things, and sending letters for different claims. I've had a really good stroke of luck with Barclaycard. I sent my SAR letter and received statements about 3 weeks later but there was only £40 on there so I decided not to do anything about it. But today I got a letter from a D. Woodcock offering me £16 (2 x £8 - difference between old charge of £20 and new OFT charge of £12), so I phoned to say I wanted the lot back and they gave it to me. I checked my statement online and it's been credited......YIPPEE. I only wish everything in life was that easy. HB
  10. Hi everyone, I can't believe how long this has taken me but I've finally got my statements, well the last 4 years anyway. Phoned and complained to customer services in the end and they sent them out free of charge... then found out NW had banked the cheque after all!! Can't wait for the other 2 years to turn up cos so far I'm looking at a claim for £1400+ - unbelievable. AB
  11. Hi everyone, I think I've made a silly mistake. I phoned Egg and made my SAR over the phone to which they seemed happy to comply, and a few days later I received some statements. However, they only sent 6 months worth, and they made a charge of 5 x £2 to my account. So I sent an edited SAR letter to Jenny Gordon, explaining that as £10 had already been taken from my account I wouldn't pay a further amount. Today I received a response asking me for ID (OK, they can have that if it speeds things along), and a request for a fee of £10!! They haven't acknowledged my earlier letter at all, this is just a bog standard reply I think. Has anyone else had a similar situation? I phoned so that I could avoid paying the £2 cheque fee that I've noticed others have been charged, but it seems to have back-fired on me as they now say they want a further £10, which I'm assuming they'll add £2 to my account for the cheque fee, so I'll end up paying £22 instead!! I don't know whether I should just send it and have done with it. Any thoughts? HB
  12. Times up for NW. Fed up that my statements didn't arrive yesterday so went back to my local branch and spoke to the Manager. He remembered seeing my letter but hadn't done anything with it as the lady he needed to speak to (Joyce Tudor?) had been on holiday. ANyway he got through to her while I sat there and she said they'd been sent out on 14th July! Explained I definitely hadn't received them and my cheque hadn't been cashed, and she said there was a backlog on cheques!!!! Since when has any bank been slow to take your money!! Anyway, upshot is that she is sending them out to me today so hopefully will get tomorrow. Sorry about the block but I'm at work and waiting for my boss to appear any minute. Update with anything further as soon as I can. AB
  13. Hi Everyone, Deadline for NW to send statements tomorrow. I took a copy of my letter into my local branch and they said they'd get the Manager to call me (yeah right) but still haven't heard a dickie bird. If they don't turn up tomorrow I'll call him and try and get them free of charge. I'll let you know how I get on. AB
  14. Hi Everyone, I'm really enjoying this and I've only just started! Statements received today (yippee), and Prelim letter ready to post tomorrow. HB
  15. Hi Everyone, I've been scanning this site for all the best advice before starting my list of claims against CC companies, and can now start happy.......Thanks 1st letters going out today.
  16. Hi everyone, I'm new to this so if I'm asking stupid questions just say so. I sent my SAR letter to NW on 10th July 2006 and haven't heard anything. Stupidly I didn't send by recorded delivery so I don't have proof they've received it, and they still haven't banked my cheque. Has anyone else been in this situation, and what did you do? I've prepared a letter to hand deliver to my local branch tomorrow: "Ref: A/c no. xxxxxxxx - Data Protection Act 1998 Subject Access Request Dear Sir/Madam, Please be advised that as yet I have received no reply to my letter dated 10 July 2006. A copy is enclosed. You have until 23 August 2006 to comply with this request. If you fail to do so I will have no alternative but to begin a complaint to the Information Commissioner and also begin a County Court action under the Data Protection Act. As stated in my previous letter, I would be happy to collect the Data from my local branch. " Do you think it's ok to deliver this, or do I have to start all over again with a new SAR letter (sent by recorded delivery) and give them another 40 days to comply? Any help would be greatly appreciated. AB
  17. Hi everyone, My husband and I have just found out about this through moneysavingexpert.com because my husband was charged for unpaid direct debits even though there was money in his account (well within his overdraft limit anyway!) I can't belive that NatWest actually charge you £38 if you don't have enough money in your account the day before to pay a direct debit. We were both furious, so have decided to do something about it, and while we're at it I thought I'd give Barclays a go too. We've just prepared our first letters to request our data (thanks very much) and hope that our £10 each will be money well spent. I expect we'll have to pay out a bit more but if it means we get more back then it's money well spent. We've had a good look around the site (it's fab to see so many other people doing it too), and we'll keep you updated in the NatWest and Barclays forums as to how we do. Good Luck to everyone else out there. H & A
