  1. Hi. I'd just like to say that this has now been settled in full Thanks to everybody here for your help - it is very much appreciated and I will be making a donation. Thanks again
  2. Hi, The people in the chat room have just told me that if I'm not bothered I can accept the confidentiality. I just need to send a copy of the letter to the court - do I just send it to them as I do to Natwest or do I have to attach a note or anything?
  3. Thank you I've drafted a letter but Have a few questions. Here's the letter: Dear Miss Rogers MatthewL–v- National Westminster Bank plc Claim number: Thank you for your letter dated the 18th August; I appreciate the time you have taken to contact me regarding this issue. I write to you to inform you that I accept your payment of £87.00 however not the condition that payment, and the details of which, remain confidential. Upon the acceptance of this I shall write to the court and withdraw my claim and accept the payment. I look forward to hearing from you. Yours sincerely, MatthewL c.c Northhampton County Court. Is this OK? There won't be any chance they'll withdraw their offer? Should I send a copy of this to the court too? Thanks
  4. Excellent, thanks . I'll draft a letter tomorrow.
  5. Excellent news! I've just returned from holiday and found a letter and cheque from RBS explaining that if I accept my claim will be confidential. From what I've read I now write back and explain that I will accept if it isn't confidential, but I'd like conformation of this. Thank you everybody for your help (Once my cheque is cleared I'll be making a donation!)
  6. I will - I was almost scared off at one point but now I've just gone for it. If this is successfull (apart from making a donation) I'll be claiming back my credit card charges. I didn't know NatWest were linked to the Royal Bank of Scotland?
  7. Thanks I'm excited and kind of nervous.
  8. Got a letter today to tell me that Natwest have acknowledged the claim and intent to defend the full amount. Just a quick check that saying they will defend the full amount is normal?
  9. Thank you I managed to get home (everything is ok now) and so put my claim in today. The court address is in Northampton (a long way away) - is that a problem?
  10. Hi - some advice would be very much appreciated. Without going into too much detail; a family member has become ill and so it isn't ideal for me to start proceedings at this point (I'm currently not at home and won't be able to get back for some time). Should I write to NatWest and tell them that my action will be delayed (possibly up to two weeks) or shall I just leave it and start when I'm ready? Telling them seems like the courteous thing to do and also I don't want them to think I have given up and dropped the issue. On the other hand I don't want them to think I'm giving them a second change. So any advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks
  11. Got a letter from Natwest this morning saying they have nothing to add to the discussion so I'll be starting my action a week on Friday.
  12. Okay I'm getting ready to send my LBA....getting exciting
  13. Got a reply from NatWest this morning from Stuart Hidley saying sod off basically. However, he does say: "In your letter you claim that we have acted as your fiduciary but I am unsure of the basis of your contention. This doesn't form a part of normal banker/ customer relationship." It worries me that he is taking about my relationship with the bank; another thread says that Natwest claimed it had broken down so closed his account - is this a standard thing to say or do you think he is implying they will close my account? Thanks
  14. Wow you wouldn't think it from the name
  15. Hi, From people's experience here, which bank would you say is the most aggressive when it comes to claiming back charges? Thanks
  16. I'd love to come but I too am far away. Good luck (like you need it )
  17. Oh, another quick question! How much do you think it will cost to submit a claim to moneyclaim for £57? Money is a little tight at the moment and I don't think I can afford much. Thanks again
  18. After reading that banks may read this forum I have decided to edit what I said
  19. Go for it! I'm only claiming £57 back but I'm not letting them get away with it! Good luck
  20. Quick update: I've just got back from the bank. I spoke to a lovely woman who was very polite and listened to me, but said that she didn't know of any cases where charges have been successfully claimed back when there hasn't been a bank error. She spoke to the manager who popped her head round the door and told me she would send the letter for me. I told her, nicely, that I would rather send it so I know its all sorted. She wouldn't let me use a Natwest envolope So, letter sent - 14 days and counting
