Hi, I recently received a PCN notice from debt collectors for a traffic violation on a school street, where cars can't drive down during certain times of the day. We have realised that we failed to update our V5C when we moved house a year earlier, which is what caused this notice to go to the wrong address and result in a debt collector notice. Fair cop, we've paid the fine and updated the V5C. The problem is unbeknownst to us we've committed this violation multiple times, which is now resulting in 10 charges from various bailiffs representing Croydon council at a staggering fee of £280 per claim. Whilst we admit we have made mistakes in not realising the school zone and not updating the V5C, these multiple charges are obviously not intentional (we didn't even see the street sign until we received the first fine) and crippling us financially. Is there anyway we can plead some sort of defence to this to Croydon council or the courts? Thanks in advance
