  1. I have been trying to do this spreadsheet for ages and I cannot get it to work properly. I have used the template provided by Vampiress and have filled it in but it is failing to calculate the statutory interest rate. I am tempted to just fill this in and claim the amount without the interest but I really want to try for the interest. I have a few boxes at the start of the spreadsheet saying: Bank interest on penalties Int. on bank int on penalties #N/A Did not find value 09/02/2001 #N/A Did not find value 09/02/2001 #N/A Did not find value 09/03/2001 #N/A Did not find value 09/03/2001 I have not yet filled in the parts after those dates but wonder whether I could fix this? My sister is growing impatient for the claim to start and I don't blame her, it's just that I would rather claim the interest on the charges as well as the initial amount. I believe I have entered the figures correctly though. I have made the document viewable here: http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=pH6tgKLLurydkcX5QAnZtGQ Can someone help me?
  2. Hello everyone, About 2 days after my last post, my sister received a letter from the bank stating that they had sent the full statements out. I belive this was a delayed response to my 2nd letter to them, chasing up the statements following my initial SAR letter. A day after that, my sister received 6 years of individually packaged statements! I was shocked but have now got all the information I need to proceed. I am in the process of filling in the spreadsheet provided by Vampiress (I believe) and when this is complete, I will be back to keep you al updated on my progress. Thanks. desjazz
  3. I think I will push them for the statements. I'll draft a quick letter but will I need to pay the £10 fee again, as I already paid for the last batch that arrived 3 weeks ago.
  4. Thanks again. Can you tell me how easy it is to reclaim this contractual rate of interest? Also, I guess I can find the rate on their website somewhere?
  5. I thought it was a bit dodgey to just estimate some of the charges. The thing is, the template I downloaded requires you to enter the date that the interest was charged and thus it knows how many days to acount for. Since they listed thelater charges, rather than giving me full statements, there is a period mentioned in the 1st thread post, that I don't have the statements for, so I cannot see how to do the claim without them. Having said that, I have just looked at a thread in which they are reclaimingthe 8% interest and the spreadsheet just counts the number of days since the fee was levied. Would I just be better sending it in at 8% interest or none at all?! Can you guide me here? (your help has been appreciated here)
  6. Thanks for that. Well I suppose I will have to stick it out and get it all done at once then. :-| I want to reclaim contractual interest, so can I simply put in an estimate for the period for which I have not been provided with statements for? Or does it have to be to the penny? Also, why will this review not make any difference to the chances of reclaiming full charges?
  7. I am a little stuck here. I have also heard that there is due to be a review of fees charged by banks in April and this may affect the success of me reclaiming the full amount of these fees. As an aside; is it ok to reclaim the initial charges first and then come back and reclaim the interest on those charges, at a later time? Can anyone help me with any of these questions?
  8. Hello, I managed to get the majority of the statements via their online banking service. Unfortunately, the statements do no go back far enough to account for 9 months before july 2002 and so my new question is: - Should I jsut use an estimate for this interest and state this with the preliminary letter, or shoudl I contact the bank and get them to give me a copy of the missing statements rather than a fee summary? It would obviously be easier to just send in an estimate but if this would invalidate the rest of the process, I'd rather not do it. Any help would be appreciated here.
  9. Thanks for that. ...Ok, I suppose it makes sense. I will now contact them again and ask for actual statements so that I can calculate the interest they owe. Any tips on the letter for this?
  10. Hello, I'm new to all of this and although I would count myself as being quite shrewd with my money and bank accounts, my sister isn't, so I have decided to help her (or rather do) ... her claim for her. I sent out a SARS request and have received copies of her accounts from December 2000 - Sept 2001 and they have sent me a summary of all charges applied to the account from Sept 2001 - today. I have been filling in the complex bank charges calc spreadsheet and as I have no record of the balance of her account from the period of Sept 2001 - today, I cannot use the figures to calculate the interest charged, as required in the spreadsheet. My question is this: should I demand full copies of the most recent statements, to ensure I can enter all of the necessary figures, or is there any way I can send the initial letter, without these figures? Can anyone help? Like I say, I am new and would appreciate any opinions etc, from anyone who knows what they are talking about. Regards desjazz
