  1. Hi, I wanted to hear opinions on our situation and whether I am right to feel I am being pushed into a corner. Our Ford Galaxy 2008 2l 5 speed manual petrol car came to a standstill last Thursday when my wife could not put it into a gear. RAC came and picked the car up, delivered it to our house and said it's probably a broken clutch. Next day, we call our local KwikFit (0.3 miles away) and ask if they can help us. They could, but only if we got them the car. We call RAC and ask them if they can pickup and deliver the car & we pay the £85 to do that. The car is delivered by RAC on Friday but KF cannot look at it until Saturday. Saturday comes and goes without any real update other than it's probably a new clutch. Monday comes and we get a call from KF saying it's probably not the clutch & maybe master cylinder but will keep us informed. Later in the day, we get a call saying it is the clutch and it's £700-£750 to supply & fit which we agree to. Later in the day, another call from KF saying it's not just the clutch but the gearbox too & they will get back on costs for that. Today we have another call saying that as the 2 KF gearbox suppliers are unable to source a replacement gearbox, the only option is to take ours and refurbish/refit at a cost of £1850 I have since phoned a couple of garages who have quoted around £850-£900 to fit a replacement gearbox. We have pressed ahead with the KF quote simply because as a family of 5 we are desperate to have our car back and do not have the time to explore other options. Am I being unreasonable to ask why KF cannot source a replacement gearbox at a competitive price from another supplier? Thanks for reading. Cheers Stuart
