  1. I joined this site a couple of weeks ago after I had an argument with the assistant manager at my Halifax branch. I wanted to close my account to stop my child benefit from being swallowed up by an unpaid direct debit charge of £39 as the child benefit is the only money I have each week. They didn't care and said I should learn to manage my account better. It really messed me up for a couple of weeks so I have now opened a new account with another bank and am at the first stage of sending the letter to find out how much I have paid in charges in the last 6 years. I am overdrawn on my account that has no overdraft, so I get charged an unauthourised fee of £28 also, so just because I didn't pay 1 direct debit they want me to pay £70? I dont think so!
