Once again thanks for all your responses., i took the picture at the spot i was stopped by the officer , i'm sorry it is not much clearer. I think the 1 thing really sticking out is the exhaust pipe which would be sticking out even with the bumper on. Edjama i would take on your advice soon as i get home from work tonight, i'll be seeing a mot tester. All will now depend on their verdict. Kiki i was unable to investigate the bump as i was on the a13 which is a very busy carraigeway and i was nowhere near a hardshoulder even if i was daring enough to stop the car and come out. The bumper's unretrievable i'm afraid which is another big dent to my wallet. Alll the more reason why i'm hoping to fight this. Thank you all so much, i'll keep you updated with my progress.

Thanks for responding renegadeimp. Of course i understand that he probably didnt believe me. Going forward i could produce the hospital appointment letter at court so that could at least prove some of my story. I have been given the ticket now and although i am upset about it, there is nothing i can do at the moment. I was just wondering if i have much grounds at a court appeal because i feel the punishment is exceptionally high.

Morning all, I was hoping for some advice please as this is a completely new situation for me. On saturday night i was driving on the a13 and heard a loud bump ,i didnt know what it was but nothing seemed amiss so i continued on to a friends party. Later that night someone pointed out to me that my rear bumper had fallen off and wondered if someone hit me. I then realised what the loud bump but my friend who does know a bit about cars assured me that in the meantime i could continue driving as my plate number was still clearly visible and lights etc working fine. I did manage to drive back home with no issues. However this morning, my brother had a hospital appointment and i had no choice but to go and pick him up so he could make this appointment. I was pulled over on the a13 by a bike policeman who proceeded to issue me a fixed penalty notice for £100 and 3 points on my license for "dangerous condition" despite me explaining all the above and i honestly thought i wasn't comitting any offense. He said there were jagged pieces sticking out which there really wasnt, at least nothing that could cause serious damge to anything or anyone,, i even took pictures to show this. I am terribly upset as i have been such a careful driver since getting my license and to get 3 points for this! I am now considering appealing , do i stand any chance of suceeding? Thanks to everyone in advance.
