  1. you can't see how it's the dvla s fault ? The error that I made was there for them to pick up on surely ? I went to the office rather than posting the forms so are you telling me that they are basically a renamed Royal Mail there paid to do a job which the failed on . I made a mistake on a form I had filled in for the first time in my whole life they see these forms day in day out so why did they not pick up on the error and the fact I was on holiday is that I didn't legally sell the car so I would imagine in legal terms it would be a void sale .....there's always going to be one sarcastic d*** on these sites and you've proved which one u are sir I'm on here for advice not sarcasm you prat
  2. yeah the car was taxed till the end of June Yep I know the ins and outs of that part but like I said I was on holiday when the van was sold
  3. Hi there , I have took the decision to turn to the net as I've tried and failed so far........ In the summer of this year my parents sold my van with my reg on it but they had the brains to keep all documents but none the less dvla do state you remove the reg before sale .....I have proof I wasn't in the country when the van was sold though here is the complicated story and I apologise in advance for boring everyone to death...... When I returned from holiday I went to my local dvla office (glasgow) filled in a v317 form for transfer of reg to my new vehicle ...whilst filling out he form I wrote my old address instead of my new one I handed the both v5 documents over they checked them gave me a ticket then my number was called and different person all again checked my documents and processed them and took the £80 transfer fee my minor error in the v317 was clear to see for a dvla trained employee as the address is stated on the v5c logbook which was staring them in the face! This visit was on the 7th of June On the 21st of June I received a letter stating this error which was dated the 17th of June ....so then I make contact with them only to be told I must re tax the vehicle and fill in yet another v317 form which is when things turned pair shaped .....as my parents had sold it I was no longer the keeper and as it was laid in there drive way my insurance was changed over to my new van I had no means of taxing the vehicle without breaking the law by committing fraud insuring a vehicle which wasn't in my care .... On the letter on the 17th the dvla did not say at any point that I had 9 days to reply to the letter otherwise I would have to tax the vehicle So basically I'm looking for someone with a bit of legal knowledge to point me in the right direction as the plate was expensive enough for me to make a big deal about it and more on the fact the dvla are the biggest crooks out ,I thank everyone who takes the time to read my post and any comments positive or negative are appreciated thanks again
