Can collection agencies check your details through a credit report? Is that where they could have obtained my details?

My cra file shows an outstanding debt to littlewoods which I am dealing with and a council tax debt which is now cleared with rossendales, I know that makes me sound bad, as I was very irresponsible with money when I was younger. However I now have a 3 year old daughter and although money is tight I'm trying to sort my affairs,

The only things on my credit file are a littlewoods account for £274 and there was a council tax bailif which I have now cleared.

Sorry it was over the phone she said about the parcel, I'm waffling a bit as its shook me up, the account was opened in 1999 and I have had no access to the account or even heard from HSBC since 2001. I have moved about 5 times and married so I don't know how they have my name or address or even contact numbers. Thanks for your help!

Sorry new to this but am so so stressed and came off antidepressants 6 months ago an dont want to be like that again. I haven't had anything to do with HSBC or even heard from then since 2001. This woman really spooked me, I have no idea how they could have obtained my details as I have moved at least 5 times since then and have been married! Should I just keep ignoring them? Can they phone my neighbours? I don't really know my neighbours so I'm not sure they even know my name? Sorry to waffle on but I'm so worried. I don't want to agree to pay back what I can't afford or even acknowledge the debt if it is going to make the situation worse.

know it's a different company, but similar situation I'm new to the site, I'm 31 and had a HSBCaccount when I was 18 that I run up £3000 and then moved address, yesterday I had a very threatening call from mcs, first they said they needed to confirm my address to deliver a parcel, this rang alarm bells as I hadn't ordered anything, the woman then got very nasty and rude she referred to me in my married name when the account was in a different name and has also called my mother in law, where I have never lived, please help, is this statute barred? I have not had anything to do with the bank for over 10 years, the woman called my landline today too and I told her noone lived here by that name so she said ok ill phone the neighbours, please help I'm so stressed its making me cry, what do I do?
