  1. I see your point renegadeimp. I am not proud of what I have done, in deed. However RLP and debt collectors shouldn't be benefit from this mistake I am deeply regretted for. If there must be a financial penalty, I wish I could donate the money to charity. S
  2. Dear All, Thank you very much for the advises. Dear Deltapete, Thank you very much for your kind message, I read through your thread as suggested. I think your case is different from mine - you didn't make a mistake the cashier did...But I will take your advice - to follow what have been suggested here. It is just too much to be attacked by these letters, they ruin your day and days after just like that, it makes me feel that "criminal" mind is really fragile...I almost tried to make an offer to finish this endless assault, worrying about to be found by other family members meanwhile. However I realize once you make an offer you will be in a very weak position. I guess this is the only place I could get support, both technically and mentally. Thanks again guys and girls. Will be firm, and hopefully I won't need further helps. S
  3. New Updates!! I was happy too early! After a month without any letter from RLP, I thought I was out of the hoop however just received another one! This time they said they will pass the case to a debt collector if I don't respond in 2 weeks. What shall I do? Thanks a lot for your suggestions!!!! S
  4. Many thanks for coming back to me. My understanding was, if this ends up in a court, it would look better if I responded to them for at least once? Also, if I want to warn them that they are not welcome to visit my property (don't want other family members know about it), a letter might be working? Or I am wrong, i.e. with or without a letter, it will be the same? Thanks again.
  5. Hello again, I am about to send out the letter to JB however when I try to double confirm the address I am really confused. In their letter their address as head office is in Glasgow, in their website they said they are a part of the Zinc Group which is registered in Stratford Upon Avon, however in Post 1 here it is in Bridge of Weir as JB Ventures. Which add I should use please? Thanks. S
  6. Many thanks both. I think the advice is loud and clear. I will send them the letter as Post 1 very soon. Thanks again and hopefully the heavy snow won't give too much of trouble to you guys. S
  7. Good morning, Would it be better to send them a letter at this stage to avoid the call? I didn't even receive anything from RLP...Maybe I should say in the letter that I have no idea about "previous correspondence"? Thanks for the suggestions. S
  8. Thanks again. I hope the JB guys won't contact me by calling my home. So far nobody knows in the family
  9. Thanks Renegadeimp. Somehow I feel much relaxed after reading your notes. Yes the retailer got all back and definitely was in sellable condition. Hopefully they won't change their mind and try to get back some "security" cost from the court...
  10. Thanks a lot HB for your prompt response. Yes the police was very clear that they will not take this further and I was feeling released in deed back to then. I guess they believed what I said, that I didn't intend to do such thing from the beginning, and I had no crime history either. My concern is, whether the retailer will listen to JB and take this further. If they do, I am afraid with policeman's involvement back to then it is hard to defend myself? However if pay, would it be the end? Re Standard Letter, since I have never received any letter from RLP/JB for this case, would it be better to clarify that ? Thanks for your advice in advance. S
  11. Hi Martin, Thanks for the information. I have received a letter today from JB Debt demanding 187.50 pounds. I am surprised however I kind of figured what has happened. Over about 6 months ago I was shopping in a retailer and trying to buy some clothes for my in-laws' kids since we were planning for a big visit instead of our Summer holiday. I had loads of kids clothes on my arms and I called my husband to reconfirm the ages of the kids that I was buying clothes for. The signal was really bad and I was talking and walking outside of the store, with the clothes. By the time I finished conversation, I was already outside of the door for 3, 4 minutes and I realised that I got all stuff in my hands without payment. I was sitting on the bench right outside of the door and thinking whether I should return those clothes. I made the wrong decision. While I was still sitting there the security guards came out and asked me whether I have paid the items. I guess the rest of the story you would imagine. The policeman came as well. We went to the station together and I got interviewed (I will skip the horrible feeling I had back to then). A few days later another policeman contacted me and he told me that they decided to drop the case because it was not a serious crime and they trusted it was just a bad decision I made at hoc. In the backroom of the store before the policeman involved, I was requested to fill a form and the security told me I would receive a letter from RLP soon. I didn't receive any letter for a while till I realise they probably got the old address from my drive license although I gave the correct address to the police. Silly me, called RLP and gave them my new address. However nothing happened! till today I just received the letter from JB. After reading through this forum I think what happened was: RLP has sent me several letters to the old address however no response of course. When they transferred the case to JB, the JB got my correct address. Hence in their letter it says: "Our client (Ps, the retailer, not the RLP) have instructed us to collect payment for the above outstanding claim as you have ignored all previous correspondence...." They asked me to respond within 7 days otherwise the client will consider legal action. My question is, kindly could you please tell me, should I respond them? and to say "I didn't receive any claim from your client?" All I should pay since the policman was involved and I will lose the case if it goes to the court? In the letter, they also threatened that " A successful legal action could result in ...fees...plus interests. Such action could also affect your ability to obtain credit." Many many thanks in advance.
  12. How do people give goodies Andy? I don't even know how to send a file by PM? What is PM by the way? I assumed it is Personal Message?
  13. Hi Andy, I saw the big AND, all understood ! Thank you very much! Will update here when receiving further letters from RLP.
  14. Thank you so much for your prompt response SP. The picture is much clearer now. If RLP can not really give much impact onto their clients' decisions probably they would be the last people to be worried about. To clarify, when I said Job Seeking, I meant to say whether the employer would be able to know the job seeker's court case, i.e. whether there will be a public record. However if a credift rating is not affected, I assume this kind of info is not opened to everybody? Once again, I am very much appreciated that you guys' contribute so much here. Sometimes I couldn't believe that people are spending time to help strangers for nothing. Having said that, I would do the same, however depending on how much spare time I have, totally being honest here.
  15. Thanks for the info. I totally agree that RLP is just an agency trying to take the advantage of people who are scared of the concequences. I am not really worried about them to be honest, I am more concerned that what could be the chance that their client(s) suddenly have some time to listen to their suggestions and take it to the court, and if it goes to the court, what is the possibility of their client wins. For example, if Mr.Gee properly hired a lawyer, do you think the story will be different? Again re Gee's case, is the court's decision will affect his life apart from the money he needs to pay? e.g., credibility, morgage, job seeking etc.? Thanks again.
  16. Hi HB, it is a PDF file and I don't know how to send to you by PM? Thanks.
  17. Thanks HB, I have sent the letter. I also scanned the 3 letters however how should I post them here? I certainly do not want to show to people who suppose not to see. And, thanks to Andy and SP too, for the latest update re court cases. I had another look at RLP's website. They have listed 13 cases and almost half of them were staff members involvments, however re customers cases, they have said something nasty about CAB. I am not sure how much of that were true though...
  18. Thank you very much both. So far I have received 3 letters from RLP and about to send a short letter to decline the claims as you guys recommended to the others (thanks again) and hopefully it is not too late to do so. I noticed that the wording in my letter is slightly different or maybe just RLP has 3 or 4 templates to send to everybody. I understand that although the chance is very slim, RLP may still be able to convince their client to move to the court, therefore I was wondering how slim it is. Was there any court case happened after Oxford (to reply your question Honeybee, yes I read the case from this forum) at all, if not all so far, then I would feel a bit "safer" to ignore the letter onwards. I am not proud of what I did, however feel silly to pay 137 pounds to RLP meanwhile. If, if there is a 4th letter coming, I will let you guys know. Fingers crossed.
  19. Thanks for all the help and I am an indirect beneficiary for all your messages. I was wondering wether there was any other legal case happened due to RLP recently? Thanks again
