I have been claiming housing benefit for nearly 4 years. Each time i amend or renew my tax credits, i receive a letter from housing benefit because the change of tax credits. All the information i have providing to tax credit is correct, i thought tax credit informed housing of all my changes. However when i received my housing benefit award this week i noticed the childcare costs were incorrect, this has been the case for nearly two years. I didn't know i had to inform housing of this change because i thought tax credit did this. I have been overpaid approx £2500 - £3000. This is a genuine mistake. As soon as i realised this i called the housing benefit section. Will i be prosecuted?
