Can anyone HELP ME! I had a credit card with creation which due to a financial hiccup I missed some payments. I told them as soon as this was sorted I would be able to pay them in full. Anyway it got passed to the debt collectors and as soon as I had managed to get the money together I called up the debt collectors to pay the full amount. The debt collector offered me a settlement figure and even though I had been willing to pay the full amount thought this amount was less so went with the settlement figure, but also asking at the time if I paid this amount would the account be settled and would this mean it would not be taken any further, I was told it would all be fine. I then forgot all about it about thinking it was sorted and heard nothing from them. Over a year later I ordered a credit report that showed a default had been put on 9 months after I had paid them to settle the account and I still owed £600 to creation. After a bit of a paper chase I managed to get the account settled and they agreed I no longer owed them the money. I am now trying to get the default taken off but they are digging their heels in and refusing to do it. I am going to forward it to the financial ombudsman but has anyone got any advise for me or am I flogging a dead horse.
