i took this card out years ago but at the time had never heard of ppi. I was retired at the time and no one ever mentioned insurance to me. Unfortunately i don't have all the statements will this matter?

i have a duet card/adams card with creation financial services. I have had this card for years and wasn't aware until recently,with all the media coverage,about the ppi insurance. the payment for this insurance easch month on my statement was atrocious. after reading the small print on the reverse of my statement i noticed it said that the insurance could be cancelled at any time in writing but that no monies would be returned. is this correct or should i try to reclaim this money from them, and if so, how do i go about doing this....thanks
