  1. Hi, I have a strange Thames Water story. 1) I receive my Thames Water bills every 6 months and I had a bill sitting around that was quite overdue. (I'm unemployed and money is tight) 2) I had received a few phone calls to my mobile that I didn't recognise - I never answer those and no message was ever left. 3) I finally googled the number and found that it was Thames Water who I phoned to pay the bill immediately. 4) The man asked me if I had been living in my flat since a date I think in 2009 or 2010 I can't quite remember. I said yes, almost continuously apart from a couple of extended trips abroad. 5) He said that the meter hasn't moved since the date he quoted - and that also another meter in my block has not moved. 6) He said he should talk to my housing association and asked me if could I hold the line. I said I'd hold and after 2-3 minutes the line went dead. I payed the bill online the next day (approximately £35 - I can't find it now) That's it - i didn't get his name and thought that he would call me back seeing as I know that Thames Water have my mobile number. But he didn't. My call to them was over 2 months ago so now I'm wondering why they haven't written to me or called me again. And why didn't they ever leave me a message when they called? Do you think they can charge me for water that I may have used although they have no record of how much that would have been? Are they accountable for the loss or am I somehow legally required to pay a guestimate that they may charge me? Being unemployed I am worried that I will soon get a big bill in which case doing nothing is preferable as I'd like to have a job before they hit me with a bill if they do. So, does anyone know where I stand? ps I do recall a passing thought that the water bills were cheap when I received the previous bill (I presume now that I've just been paying the standing charge) and I rationalised it by deciding that I was probably now being billed quaterly. I didn't check the meter as I didn't know where it was and I didn't examine the bill - I honestly didn't think much, I just paid it and forgot about it - it's nice when your bills aren't big pps yes, the meter isn't moving. thanks for reading kerosene99
  2. thanks for the replies .... something of a scary situation as a huge chunk got eaten up in paying off my debts. Therefore I can't pay it back and can't use it to live on. at least I know where I stand, thanks again, I'll chew it over.
  3. thanks for the replies the money was collected by the Performing Rights Society (PRS) they collect any money that a musical work generates. and i don't know why i said i received a check .. it just got paid straight into my bank account.

  5. on reading my first post it looks like i'm trying to get away with the non disclosure of the £2000 - that's not really what i mean. it's just - how much will I have to pay when I come clean and are there penalties for not declaring immediately? thanks for reading
  6. hello, I've been claiming JSA for about a year now and I have a worry that i'd like to sort out. So, many years ago I wrote some music that was used last year and generated some money. £2000 was paid into my account in September which I didn't disclose to JSA people. Now I've just received a check for £500 and I know I must tell them. but i'm worried because they may find out about the previous check and ask for £2000 which i don't have. (i have no other savings or other income) Does anyone have any advice on how much will i have to pay? also, I'd like o add an e to my post title
