  1. Mr PT. You were recommended as the font of all knowledge Can I just check one last time because it seems such a disputable question; a Certified Court Bailiff does not require a CCL because they are not classed as Debt Collectors. Thanks for your patience.
  2. Thanks Maroon. I had seen that: The Office of Fair Trading issues Consumer Credit Licences to companies that are in business as Debt Collectors. This is certainly a “grey” area, with some bailiff companies denying that they require a licence because they are enforcing a warrant, not collecting a debt. For this reason, many claim that they do not have a Licence…..this is not true!!! Most bailiff companies do have a Consumer Credit Licence. But again, it does not actually say that a bailiff requires one. It is merely advising that many do, and when they do, there is a process for recourse via the OFT. Many bailiffs would actually be part of a larger organisation who are principally debt collectors and as such, they would require a CC Licence. I think it's still unanswered
  3. Despite reading an array of information, I cannot ascertain 100% whether or not a Certified Court Bailiff requires a Consumer Credit Licence to enforce court judgements. The feel I have is that such enforcements are NOT considered Debt Collecting by means of letters, phone calls and negotiation and therefore do not require a Cat E licence. This bailiff does not work from an umbrella organisation so there is no question of the bigger company having the CC Licence under which he is operating; he's a lone ranger. Can any nice person provide a solid response please?
