  1. Hi Sorry to make a new question but there are so many threads here I wouldn't know where to start looking I have £600 pound over draft and I am at my limit having spent my final payment having been made redundant. The charge I get a month is £30. So next month no money is going to get paid to me in that account. I don't know if the Halifax will be difficult with me so have applied to open a stepper account with Natwest and I'm awaiting the application pack. This is so I can get the ball moving with a benefits claim whilst I look for work because I assume that if I get benefits paid into my existing Halifax account then the charges will swallow the money up. Or worse still they will just take benefits payments and use it to pay off my overdraft. My question is what are my rights here as a consumer? Obviously I owe the money to the bank and will I will resume normal services with them when I get a new job. Is it likely they will just be hard on me and just demand I carry on paying the £30 every month for the overdraft? Obviously on benefits this will be impossible (I really hope I get a job quick). Or will they freeze the account as is and I can pay a nominal small fee until I get a job? Any advice please. Just want to be forearmed of my rights before speaking to them. Thanks in advance
